Gary, better you guys than me in that weather…QOTD, snow day? In texas…doesn’t happen much. Atleast you looked like you guys were enjoying yourselves out there.

Awesome show! I hope you bought the sign holder a bowl of soup or something. This is a perfect example of why I love the show.

The obvious episode today would have been something like “Valentine’s Day wines,” but no! Your are hardcore, Gary.

QOTD: The nor-easter of 1996. I was living in Washington DC that year, we had 26 inches, and the federal offices shut down for 6 working days! The city was absolutely paralyzed. By the end, though, I was going stir crazy.

LMAO!!!! I love it!! I thought someone was messing with your glass until the third time it started sliding off the table. Then when the bottles started to go I realized just how hard that wind was blowing. Hilarious. Thanks for tasting some good wines, too!

Aw man, I got all jacked up when I saw the title and thought the episode was actually going to have a practical application. GREAT episode & highly entertaining, but I had hoped that the tasting would be something like:

    – One bottle that had been frozen.
    – One bottle that had been heated to 120F
    – One bottle that had been properly cared for
(all bottles would, of course, be of the same wine)

The idea would be to see what effects shipping wine into extreme weather conditions does to the wine.

…but at least now I know that if I want to have a tasting in a blizzard, I could do it!

    Nice job, GV!

QOTD: stranded in a cabin in PA several years ago with plenty of food, and several cases of wine.
    sledding and drinking all day!

    Gary…Your Certifiably Insane!!!

Stay by the fire tonight and enjoy your wine…

For your One year Anniversary you should tape a show with some readily available wines and let us taste along with you…Maybe 3 or 4 and let us know well ahead of time…It would give us a chance to compare “Palates” with you…

I agree, eiswein would have been thematically appropriate, but gluhwein would have been my tipple of choice.

QOTD: two memorable snow days – one in 1992 in upstate NY where we rowed out an old wooden clinker to break the ice, and another rowing practice in early 2003 in the UK where after striking out a few miles, with ice forming on any exposed hair and clothing, it started to snow. Fortunately or not, the snow was blowing at our backs but into the coxswain’s eyes, so it was a minor miracle that we made it back. Happy memories.

I thought episode 148 was your “Citizen Kane” and could not be topped, but this one comes close!

  • Wow you are truly a NUT! I love it! Living in Minnesota I’m hardened to weather such as you are experiencing now and thus have no memorable snow days.

Maybe this is cheesy butI kinda wish you had mentioned what you think are some romantic wines to drink with that special person as it is V-day. Like what wine do you think is the most aphrodesiacicle?

Now I know why I make it a point to watch Gary Vay-ner-chuk. That was absolutely hilarious! A $150 wine and the #1 WS award winner and the glass slides down the table! Unbelievable. I can’t stop laughing. Man o man.

What a way to get me in a good mood for the little woman tonight. Off to cook her favorite meal, veal scalloppini and I’ll try the Reininger Syrah you reviewed a few days ago.

QOTD: I hate the cold weather which usually includes snow so a “favorite” would be hard pressed. Maybe when it snows on Christmas Eve. Yes, that’s it. A fire, a glass of Dom and waiting for Santa to come.

    Chills, I mean Cheers!

    You da man!

If I can take it upon myself to answer flavsauce, you gotta go with Champagne or maybe a Spanish cava.

Popping a bottle of Perrier Le Jouet (flower label) will ALWAYS do the trick. Though my favs are Pommery Apenage and Gossett. Great stuff.

  • I live in So. Cal. now. Last time I lived in a northern climate was 12 years ago when I lived in the West Windsor, NJ. My wine of choice on a snow day was whatever wine it would take to get whatever woman I was dating at the time to come over and take her clothes off and warm me up.

Thanks for the advice Dom but unfortunately my ball and chain doesn’t dig Champagne. Any other ideas?
