QOTD: Wichita KS….snowed and covered the drive…..not only that…it iced real bad…woke up to take a final and found a basket ball goal lying on my truck..!

OK, This episode finally got a 2 month lurker to comment. Outstanding entertainment GV! Which leads to the obvious next 2 episodes:

Tomorrow: How the same wines tasted indoors.

Day After: How a head cold affects wine tasting.

Thanks for all the information, attitude and entertainment. I’ll keep watching…

OMG – LOL You guys are locos! Erik with his smile(Ithink it was frozen), spitting to the side, Erik shielding himself on the next spit, sliding bottles, frosted glass. How many times can you make us lol. Geniuses!!!!!

Gary, the one-handed stem ‘snag’ reminded me of Don Maynard in the end-zone along the sidelines. Were your feet in bounds? The replay was inconclusive.

I froze my arse off just watching that one!

Fantastic episode! Sliding glasses and bottles from the wind, whoa! All of those wines over 90 points? I think the Mollydooker would show great in the cold, since its so luscious and alcoholic and the LB much more restrained. Keep up the interesting episodes!

  • What can I say that hasn’t already been said. You’re nuts but I guess you’re our nut. Only favorite snow days are ones on the ski slopes. Never had a good when when driving is involved. Since I never but the number one wine from Wine Spectator and you are sold out will have to take your word on the Casanova but typically Wine Expectator has a tendency to overblow whatever wine they declare WOTY……not. Was Erik the one avoiding the spit?

You never quite answered the question about how temperature affects wine. As a whole though, I think people tend to drink their whites too cold and their reds too warm. You tasted some good wines today with the possible exception of the Mollydooker. I’m just not that big of a fan of the Marquis’ style of wine. IMO, it’s a little fake.
QOD: Favorite snow days as a kid were days we were off of school and we got to sled ride, have snowball fights, and build snow forts. Favorite snow days now are when my kids are off of school and I get the chance to blow off work and play with them outside.

    Well done, Gary V.

Perhaps the diagnosis of post-traumatic-episode-disorder is appropriate in this situation. Way to take one for the rest of us who prefer tasting with less wind and with at least four wines. Your wife must be a patient woman….. All the best!

QOTD: Senior year in college at EKU we got around 3 feet of snow and they cancelled classes the whole week. All the roads were closed, so we tied a rope to a sled, walked a mile to the liquor store and hauled back enough alcohol and party supplies to last us the whole week. Eventually everyone made it over to our place and we had a week-long blowout party!

    Hilarious GV!

Now I remember why I left THERE to MOVE HERE!

Wine of the year sprayed across Jersey…Prolly some fallout picked up in the wind leaving a purple trail.” New Prince Song?”

NICE hand save on the moving glasses and bottle!

The Steve Irwin of wine tasting!

    Legendary.Thanks, yet again!

    WOW!!!!!! U da Man!!!!!!!!
QOTD: My favorite memory is as an adult in the Mid-80’s in Manhattan playing football in the middle of 3rd Avenue at 26th street and sledding with my future wife down the hill below Grand Central on Park. A great couple of days.

    Flavasauce:

Hmmm, then what flavor profile does she like? Here are two wines on the sweet side but really, really nice that everyone I serve just absolutely loves whether they are hardcore Cab fans or newbies.

Gary carries this one. 375ml, great label and great wine.

    http://winelibrary.com/search.asp?Vint=&size=%5B+all+%5D&sDept=&search=nivole

though I cannot find this one though it is a red Moscato. Delicious.

    PERRONE BIGARO BRACHETTO/MOSCATO 2006, ITALY
This lightly sparkling Italian Rose, a blend of Moscato and Brachetto grapes, is deliciously frothy and refreshing.

    Good luck!

P.S. We may make 200 comments!

Amazing how you managed to stay focused through wind, snow, sleet and hail….ah, but the show must go on. You are a nut!! Has no one ever told you that you can catch your death of colds when you don’t wear a coat? Some goldschlager would have warmed you right up. Great show. I’m still laughing at the wind-blown glass and bottles! :0

Another classic episode..had to see it again today because the stomach muscles still hurting from laughing so hard yesterday. You have amazing reflexes…even caught the glass without looking at your hand!!! QOTD..Blizzard of ’78 in CT. The Govenor shut down the state to emergency vehicles only. Three days before getting home after being stranded at work.

QOD: I was too busy laughing at Borat pommeling you with snowballs to hear the QOD.
One of my favs…2006 Christmas Day ..Huge Ice Storm…no power or water for 10 days. Used a generator to run the furnace, light the Christmas tree and run the Karaoke. Had some good wines , and great fun!

Nice catches. QOTD: Storm in 87 or 88 dropped a couple feet of snow over two weeks. They canceled mid-terms in high school! Didn’t get much better than that.

  • Alco Holland

    Nice episode Bossa
My favorite snow day was at my boarding school senior year when so many teachers and students had the flu that school had to close for a day.
