Huge # of comments, maybe the most up to this point. Don't have that many Bordeaux in Cellar (over priced), much more Cali Cabs. Nice to own a wine store… QOTD-tonight (Cab) 3 yrs ago?? http://www.winelx.com

We are changing the wine world!!
We started with Raventos i Blanc Cava poured over with fresh pureed strawberries and Grand Marnier. Yes we had this with of all things slow cooked baby back ribs!

As of right now we are enjoying Altos De Luzon Jumilla 2004.
Home goods in Woodbridge, NJ is were we purchased it.The glass very close to your glass I`ll see if I can get the picture to post! my DH is drinking out off the glass!
A little hint for heavy red wine drinkers like myself mix a bit of baking soda and peroxide to make a paste; brush with it and you will have a white smile. It`s a little gross but ohhh so worth it.
As for the fruit in liquid you were trying to come up with is
compote is the word you were looking for. You know dried fruit cooked in sugar syrup. It is also often used as a drink, in which case only the liquid is drunk and is usually less sweet.
Hey gary what about : Intellivision or are you too young?
Oh this one counts as 2 lurkers! Wait I`m not a lurkers but my DH is so I`m writing for him as well.

Hi Gary, I’m Les!

I’m looking forward to tasting a few wines with you in the future. You’ve got a great thing going here. I like your style.

The first episode I tuned into was #201 and then you were gone. I’ve already passed on the word about your vincast so I’m glad your back – it helps with the credibility factor.

No wine for me tonight but I’ve got a bottle of 2002 Barnwood Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon beckoning.

QOD: Unfortunatrly, I gave up drinking wine at home for Lent. Only One week to go!

Tonight – a Heineken

Last Night – a cheap ($4.99) bottle of Whole Foods Chardonnay that is shockingly good for that price.

WOW!
Didn’t think that was possible!

Great episode. I love Bordeaux. I have the 2001 and 1996 Chateau Brane-Cantenac in the cellar. Should be good judging from your reaction.

QOTD: Today is my birthday (#43). So I’ve decided to open up a 1996 Chateau Caronne Ste. Gemme from the Haut Medoc. Just because all this Bordeaux talk has made me do it.

• Patt

QOTD: ashamed to say Hardy’s Wine Box Shiraz. But a budget is a budget and you gotta have wine, doncha?

I was reading several of these until I came across mention of the Women’s NIT. That’s just not kosher. It was painful enough to see my alma matter get slaughtered by Tennessee in the first round of the women’s tournament.

QOTD: Either a glass of Chatteau Ste. Michelle Columbia Valley Cabernet at home or Pabst Blue Ribbon on the porch of The Miller High Life Lounge (I’m classy like that).

Tremendous episode Gary. Are you planning any trips to Ohio? We would love to have you put on a “live” wine tasting in our small town of Lima, Ohio. QOTD: Enjoying Altos de Mendoza Tikal Amorio Malbec 2005. Thanks for your endless enthusiasm and good-nature. Go Dallas Cowboys!

• Danielle

Who gives up wine for anything?? Must stink.

Let’s help Gary win his bet. Start your own QOTD like this one:

What is you favorite reference made by Gary?

i.e. Today’s reference to “Back to the Future”.

I’d like to know precisely what you mean by “silky”? In my experience the wines that send me seriously over the moon have what I describe as powdery, melt in your mouth (think cocoa powder on chocolate truffles) feel. I’m wondering if your “silky” is a similar word? Usually this “melted powder” feel is associated with what I, as a neophyte oenophile, consider to be mellow or balanced wine with softened tannins. Can you expand?

What about the 03′ Vielle Cure which also scored a 90? Would love a comparison. Good luck on the 350.

QOTD: A cold Yuengling with shrimp on the patio, its 87 degrees in NC!

• Claudio

BTW G-Man when is the trip to Burgundy? I really think there would huge interest as the Pinot crazed public needs further understanding about where it all started. Am I right?

Gar-
OK I’m making more comments
because…..
I finished the ep!
Super descriptions of the wines!!!
Only can afford the first but……
I was still laughing up a storm.
QOD:
2003 Clos du Bois Merlot Sonoma County.
Not crazy about this effort.
Now I know why it was on
sale
and
glad it is just a
small bottle.
🙂
