Huge # of comments, maybe the most up to this point. Don't have that many Bordeaux in Cellar (over priced), much more Cali Cabs. Nice to own a wine store… QOTD-tonight (Cab) 3 yrs ago?? http://www.winelx.com

    Heading for 350….

Welcome back Gary. Sorry I missed you at the store Saturday. But I understand. Going Chateau to Chateau is tough to beat.

QOTD: Nothing. Big business trip tomorrow.

    Hi Gary,

I really appreciated helping us find decent Bordeaux for below 20 bucks. I am hungry to find wines like that.

    Cheers,
    Michael

    BUMP!!

Definitely need some more enlightenment about Burgundy GV. Get out the Maps, plot the regions. Tell us the histoire.. THEN taste the wine! From what I’ve read so far, the area is a lot more confusing than the neatly classified Bordeaux.

Tonights wine…… 2005 Arnot Roberts Syrah Nice bowl of Italian sausage/spinach/onion and pasta to go with it. It’s been calling for me to open one for a few weeks now so I was going to open it even if we were just having PB&Js for dinner!! Right on GV with the tasting notes!

Compote…yes! That was the word. (Comment #71)

Nice ep., I enjoyed watching the last wine – 2003 Chat Bellevue Mondotte. Sweet decanter that was used to pour it. Did Gary say that it was fun to pour from that decanter? I wasn’t sure if he did…

    in beautiful NC.
Anyway here goes, can I order some now?

    165. Come on folks, we got a long way to go to get to 350.

Wish I had the money and the patience to buy futures. I’d buy a case but I’m afraid I’d drink it when it showed up.

  • Caren

first time for “boot poop” in the SS TN?

QOTD: I’m drinking Mountain Dew tonight. It’s hard to enjoy wine by yourself, I much prefer sharing a bottle with dear husband Badger Rick. Our last wine we enjoyed was 2004 Sextant Wheelhouse Zinfandel, Paso Robles. Nice!

What am I drinking tonight? You picked a night that we decided to do a budget wine. I picked up, at my local Kroger store, â??Gum Bearâ? Unoaked Chardonnay by the Watson Wine Group from Australia for $5.99. I must say that I really was not expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. It had a nice acidity and a lot of fruit. I made a spicy Indian meal tonight, mustard seed chicken, and the wine complimented the meal nicely. I would like to add that I am a bit tired of the Australian wineries, or any winery for that matter, putting cute little animals on their wine.

Just doing my part to help you win that bet. Tonite i am drinking the Locorosso 04 ($9 WL). Opened it monday, wasnt around Tues, finishing tonite. The wife and I werent overwhelmed, have a few more bottles and hope to revisit in 6 months to see if things come together a bit. The way you talk about 2005 bordeaux, the excitement you bring, makes me think about buying more futures…please dont do that anymore, i have mortgage payments to make.

  • Dom

BTW, did anyone see Peyton on SNL? The United Way commercial spoof was absolutely hilarious!

    QOTD – I’m drinking the ’00 Fronsac.

I’ve seen a few posts on here stating that “compote” was the word that Gary was searching for. Are we sure he didn’t mean Consommé?

QOTD: 2002 Goundrey Offspring Cabernet Sauvignon from Western Australia…nice restrained Cab with great balance, not a fruit bomb.
