Without a doubt the best two wine library eps ever, i rewatch them at least once a year. If you ever decide to redo a one-off I’d highly recommend doing something like this again, preferably in france since I speak the language lol, but anywhere else would be incredibly welcome!

Gary, I’m 7 minutes in…you are at Haut Brisson….and this is GREAT!!! I love it so far and cannot wait to see the rest of Part I and Part II tomorrow.

One suggestion….I’m wondering if, when people appear, you can add text to let us know their names & titles. You can kind of figure it out, but it would be a nice addition.

    and….I get a break from the SS….thanks!!

You should have asked the guys in the suits @ Margaux when they add the Mega Purple. I would have loved to see their reaction!

Wow, wow. You taste a lot of wonderful wines on this show, but I am now thoroughly jealous. That must have been one heck of a trip. Awesome. Can’t wait for the rest.

    Fantastic episode!
I REALLLLLLY want to go down to Bordeaux and do this? Do you need to be GV and buy for thousands of $$$ of wine to do this or are normal people also allowed on those visits?
Anyways, I agree with the comment that asks for text telling us who those people are, I recognized a few of the more “famous” ones, like Paul Pontarlier at Margaux, but it would nice to know…

    Can’t wait for tommorow’s ep!

Gary, please learn some french! My story..I picked up 2 Japanese hitchikers north of Barcelona and proceded into southern France with them as my buds and soon to find out.. interpreters. The most amazing thing I have ever seen is the transformation of the french from tourist haters, to chateau hosts, after “foreigners” made a simple attempt to honor them by speaking their language. They are proud of their culture, language, history and frenchiness, that’s just the way they are. They love what they’re doing and think if you are there you should love it too! Just like us! If you acknowledge that, you get the keys to the city. When my hitchikers spoke pidgeon French with a Japanese accent to someone we would meet for directions or whatever, I swear, the gates of heaven would open and they (the french) would lite up like Xmas trees. We were overwhelmed with kindness and cooperation. It was hilarious and the instant graciousness/hospitality the french offered blew me away. Everyone involved immediately got off! End of story. Thanks, bye

It was a nice journal, but lacked the polish of the usual WLTV. Long and muted. I would suggest more of a montage of different clips with a soundtrack to keep the tempo fresh.

    Hey GV,

Just finished Part I. The audio was a little difficult to hear…but switching to headphones made a big difference. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this…the time seemed to pass much quicker than I had anticipated. Shoots down my comment about length earlier when I mentioned this to be the next Mondovino. Great job, and look forward to Part Deux.

ABSORBING! KUDOS GV. One down side. you are mic’d very well but the hosts audio is very muddy.next trip take a boom man.

Nice!! I could envision crowds of us standing in the background, listening in, tilting our heads and nodding.
QOTD: Good stuff, GV. Looking forward to tomorrow’s ep. Thanks for sharing Bordeaux.

    GV,

Vayniacs are pretty lucky to get to see these Chateaus in a free video. Do you think this beats visiting Napa Valley wineries? One thing in Cali’s favour though, you’re not tasting $40 bottles of Cabernet for a $5 or $10 tasting fee. And we do remember the Paris Tasting, both the original and 30th anniversary.

QOTD: it was pretty cool. I enjoyed hearing all that, but I can see why other people thought it was boring. I also couldn’t understand what some of the other people were saying every now and then, but overall it was awesome. Thanks!

    gv,

i once tasted my way thru burgundy and planned on going thru bordeaux afterwards but was wined out after 3 or 4 days and passed on bordeaux and went to paris instead. i have been kicking myself ever since over how i could have passed that up. i shall return… anyway it was very cool taking the virtual bordeaux tour with you to such legendary chateaux. yes audio on the hosts could have been better but i think reasonable considering that you were there for the tastings, as buyer and to build relationships – not to stick cameras and mics in their faces. look forward to pt 2.

Great. Technical questions – was the mic for the Haut Brisson tasting in Gary’s molar?
