Still, I tend to feel for you when it comes to rating the wines with the vintners present. I don’t know about the rest, but I wouldn’t mind if you didn’t give actual numbers during such episodes. Gotta say you look uncomfortable trying to rate wine in front of the vintners. I would be too. It’s like having an artist come to your house and then assigning numerical “worth” to their art. Not good.

Sorry Dick, but come on. Life’s too short to drink cheap wine? Lots of folks out there not quite as fortunate as you to have that luxury. How about just life’s too short to drink bad wine. And thanks to Gary for giving us the heads up on GREAT inexpensive wine! QOTD: This sentence is true.

Good one. I agree with several of the other posters that I think the rating in from of the guests is a bit uncomfortable and I would not mind skipping the ratings.

First of all, congrats on the Cork’d acq. Soon as I saw the new look, I instantly recognized. The site seems to be working smoothly today, and from all I can tell, it’s going great. (Plan to integrate look & feel more, with the regular wine library sales site?)

Second, I really dig the interplay with live guests. But maybe you can pull back the camera, so everybody can spread out on the couches. You all are so squished in together at this little table, there’s no shoulder room. It’s like you’re filming during a Southwest flight, in economy class.

Third, one question: with guest winemakers present, it seems like you’re pulling punches on the wine reviews. You get your point across, but more gently than normal.. esp. if you think it’s overpriced. It’s hard to be blunt when your guest is right there, so I don’t know how to handle that, but overall, I guess it seems to be working out.

Mikey B……dead on! Don’t get me wrong….I got my low production/high cost wines…but it came off as a justification of the price tag. Gary, I think you hurt Dick’s feelings….WHERE IS MAYNARD? You can’t tell me he wouldn’t be a “wild card” for the show….seriously. Are you avoiding guests because you are afraid to give your true oppinion and offend them? I think with these low production/high cost wines….it’s always a possibility. If their juice isn’t good….maybe it’s due to travel. Do they ship it a few weeks ahead of time to allow for it to settle….wine needs time. It’s great to see a guest…..

Almost forgot…QOTD: What is true? Everyone has a different palate…trust yours. Accept that a 90 point wine to Robert Parker or to Wine Spectator may only be 85 to you….or that an 83 point wine may be your 100 point wine….numbers & scores are all relative….

Gary, Great show. You must do a show on Gorman Winery out of WA. He has 4 amazing wines.
