Woo hoo, WLTV is back! Nice rioja episode. I didn’t know whites could last that long (german rieslings and botrytized wines excluding)!

QOTD: I’d have to say 1990 Romanée Conti. Not that’s ever actually going to happen.

Good to see you back, but everyone needs a break now and then. I’ll have to try a Rioja sometime soon.

QOTD – The best Ice Wine from Germany would be my choice. I’ve had a Canadian version, but can’t afford the German juice.

I appreciate any Spanish wine show, I have been drinking Rioja as far as I remember, it has never let me down. The Montecillo was my go to wine for a while back in the 90’s, I have been away from it, but I still have some mid 90’s left that I will revisit soon, in particular now that you reminded me with this show.
QOTD: I have been chasing the opportunity to try L’ermita Alvaro Palacios Priorat for a while now. Is very pricy and I still have not found any bottles to be tempted with around here.

    Good to have you back….
QOTD – I’d love to see you taste a 1961 Latour side by side a 1990 Latour and show the effect of age on these wines from amazing vintages and producers. You could also do the 1945 Mouton and the 1986 Mouton or whatever but that is the idea. I want something moucho serious (1900 Margaux/ 2000 Margaux woud also be cool!)

I was going to say nice episode, but then you have to go and make that comment about the Giants.
    How about trying this wine:

Nice shout out to Santa Claus. Definitely think he doesn’t get enough props in the bloggosphere. Great to see you back, lookin in prime. Enough can’t be said enough about Rioja. There are some fantastic wines coming outta there, so much history, and yet so much potential for that region and others in Spain.

QOTD: want to try some Japanese wine over a bill. I’ve tried a number for around 10 to 20 to 40 bucks but haven’t been terribly impressed and am wondering if I’m just not paying enough for a good Muscat Belly A or Koshu. We’ll see.

  • Great to have you back GV!! We all missed you =)

QOTD: I’m actually looking forward to trying to 2001 Reserva Campo Viejo Tempranillo Rioja that’s in my kitchen. Other than that, i’m a wine newb. I wouldn’t really know what to try, that’s what you are for =)

QOTD: I’d love to try some of the more highly rated expensive wines that are way out of my price range – I rarely shell out more than $20. I love red Burgundy, so something like the Denis Mugneret Clos De Vougeot 2000 (http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=8499) would be great to try, but I also really like trying new things, and the Lopez De Heredia Tondonia Blanco Rioja Gran Reserva 1981 (http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=31093) from today sounds awesome.

    Gary,

After you take your Greek Islands trip, can you do a Greek wine episode on WLTV. I have had a few Greek wines, some good and some very bad. I would like to learn more.

    Thanks

The white rioja sounds like it smells like a race track. 🙂 Good to have you back and I enjoyed the episode as usual.

QOTD: The Majella Sparkling Shiraz looked very intriguing.

Thanks for the Rioja episode. Been drinking them for about 10 years, and the styles (and vintages) vary fron wine to wine. I am always looking for $15-$25 values in these wines and tend towards those that resemble the traditional style, but it’s always nice to have a “tasting” wine occasionaly.

Found the Vega recenty on the site and purchased a six-pack. I found it to be a nice wine for food. Not over-the-top but a good value with the traditional Rioja character.

[Just saw the tasting of this wine and I really appreciate your description of this wine. Earthy, black fruits, pepper, leather, dirt, some oak, but not explosive. Couldn’t have said it better – and won’t try. Thanks Gary, see you in SF!!!]

Great Show! Love that you did multiple price points for the type of wine. QOTD: I would love to try a Borolo, but just haven’t talked myself into spending the money for a quality bottle.

  • QOTD: I’d love to look at Oregon wines, especially the lesser known Rogue Valley, including Foris Vineyards, and anything from the group of artisan vintners known as the Rogue Appellation Garagiste Society (RAGS). I also think it would be interesting to look at New York State wines, Maryland wines, and other lesser known microclimates from closer to the homes of the people drinking them: bio-regionalism, local exchanges. Let’s find the wines from our own areas and support them. Thanks, -Takilma Kate
