Are you still reading comments, GaryVee? I discovered these videos and decided to watch from EP 1! Thanks for the education.
New to wines, so I haven’t yet tried a Barolo.
Read today that cork’d has croaked. LOL! Too bad, but created an account with cellar tracker.

Yeah, How about a mountian fruit episode?

Better yet, how about comparing a napa valley cab with its mountain fruit brother?

QOD Bolognese with almost any red, the best!

    Another great episode.
Ever consider a show on the proper handling and cellering of wines ?

  • Love Barolo!!! Great job again…What do you think of the 2001 Damilano for a “cheap” Barolo ($30-35). Again thanks. I’m hooked and spreading the word.

QOTD – my favorite Italian food has to be pizza, because it’s so simple yet so yummy. But I really love all Italina food. With pizza I would drink either a Chianti or a Prosecco. Or whatever comes to mind for the moment. Great episode, funny that Erik forgot to turn the mic on.

Forgot to add that risotto is also my favorite Italian food. I really like to make it myself. Call it a “tie” with pizza.

Well, third reply now in a year. Not for free stuff, but because GV asked.

Great episode. Loved the Joe Cortez reference, and the “your not in college anymore, deal with it”. Nice….

    Oh, and I learned something.

    What’s a lurker?

    Dig-dug.

Why do you have a picture of a sperm on your board?

4 wins for the Giants? Well at least 1 of them will be over the Jets.

    Mmm, chocolate covered shitake mushrooms…

Don’t worry — some people do spit when they get excited.

QOTD: Veal parm. Any red Italian wine.

Gary – homerun! Love Piedmontese wines, esp. Barolo and Barbaresco. These wines to me are like the red Burgundies of Italy. I haven’t tried any of my 2000 yet, but I’m HUGELY concerned since I also bought a few ’97s that were also from a ripe, hot vintage, and have also found them atypical – rounder, riper flavors, and actually less aromatic than ’96, ’90, and ’89. I’m actually looking to stock up on more ’96s, ’99s, and esp. ’01s where I can find them. Now that I know Suckling prefers that riper style, I tend to ignore his Italian ratings and look more toward Galloni and Tanzer.

QOTD: Toss up between Osso Buco or Double Cut Veal Chop stuffed with Gorgonzola and Spinach. That with a 10+ yr old bottle of Barolo from a more classic vintage, and you’re in heaven. (BTW – probably most of you from Jersey know of AC’s Chef Vola – they do a killer Veal Milanese that pairs great with a classic Barbaresco).

  • Gary, You rock!

Because of you sponsoring diggnation, I have been turned onto wines. Even though I am too young to drink them.

    Keep up the good work!

Keg Stand… Whats that??? (I must be getting old)

  • Brian

Hey Gary, do you have any resources you can post to help with best vintages when buying?

Love the big Barolos. Favourite Italian meal is anything — but with a Paolo Scavino Barolo.

    Nice episode.

My $0.06 worth. You showed us the classy Piedmont wines. I’ve great satisfaction with the Chianti Classico’s and the sangiovese. Now when the wallet let’s me…. Barolo is just over the horizon.

QOTD: I know I don’t have a favorite italian dish, but I do gravitate to more of the hearty and traditional dishes. All enjoyed with the chianti or sangiovese.

Pizza. I think we all get pizza once in a while. I hope I haven’t missed an earlier episode where you sample some wines that would go well with pizza… If not, how about an episode focused on pizza and wine happiness?

Gary, You are the man!! I love watching these freakin things!! Learning about wines outside the traditional box.
QOTD: Ravioli paired with V.Sattui family red

  • Montrose

Great to see the Barolos. Except for the 2000s, they have always been good to me.
QOTD: Home-made cannelloni, made with fresh pasta, with a nice Barbaresco.

QOTD: Vitello Milanese; risotto with peas, prosciutto, and reggiano parmesan; fresh basil, Jersey tomatoes, with peppered virgin olive oil (with a whisper of rosemary)as insalada; and for dessert, uno polpetto con marinara ragu! (Would have had gelato, but I’m a diabetic.)
