A dumb Rhein king

haha, give the oak monster shirts props one day and then complain about them the next 😀

QOTD: I don't know if I can remember what I had in 2007, but this week I had a Greek Moschofilero by Boutari. It was very good. The worst wine was a cab from Cavas Submarinas. It tasted like wet musty cardboard. It could be TCA even though the cork was synthetic.

  • Went to the Italian Street Festival in Indianapolis with a bottle of Taburno Falanghina (among others, but this one was first). First try, and I am not usually a white wine fan. But on a hot day surrounded by a group of good people and whole lot of good food, it was perfect!

My blog has limited readership, family and friends but I certainly have had your link up for a while now. It’s all love for WLTV!

Q’s of the day – nothing too fancy, probably best was the Kim Crawford SB, worst was, well, thankfully none of the many others were bad. The t-shirts look awesome. Oh and I definitely pass links to shows to family when I think they’d benefit from watching. For example my brother in law is Austrian so whenever you tasted Austrian wines I’d pass the link of that show to him.

    Best – TORBRECK WOODCUTTER’S SEMILLON
Worst – YellowTail Chard, but I knew what I was getting into. ooof ah!

  • Holy cow it’s been a while. Sorry Gary, I’ve been travelling for work and have just been plain busy and I haven’t been able to watch an episode in over a month now. But it sounds like you’ve been vacationing anyway. I like the new format.

QOD: Hmmm…the last 2 weeks, eh? Well, the worst was last night: I had a bottle of 1999 El Seque, Laderas de Ponoso (Alicante)…waaay over the hill. It smelled like a mature Bordeaux (w/out the charm) and was just finished. So that was a bummer after a long day. The best was (and I’m not kidding) was some Coteaux du Ventoux Rose that I had while in Miami last week. I don’t remember the producer. But I was there on business, and it was scorching hot and after working all day, I walked over to some French cafe and had a tuna sandwich and a couple glasses of this Rose, and it just tasted so dang good. It just totally made the trip worth-while.

OK. Well, I promise to watch every day again now. I’ll see you later man,
    Go BEARS!!!

    Welcome Back GV!

QOTD: Best wine I had in the last 2 weeks is a tie between a Mayo Sangiovese and a Wolffer Pinot Gris. Both were excellent. Worst? Probably a Dutcher Crossing Chardonnay.

Glad you’re back! Agree with you on the fiddlehead pn, last time there i was underimpressed, especially QPR wise. The olives, cheese and cherries made up for it though!

    Best:Chat Franc Bigaroux 2000 brdx.
Worst:Flying cloud shiraz 2.99 @TJ’s CAPPED! Carbonic and sour!

Hey Gary, welcome back! Sorry the wines were not to your liking. QOTD: I went to a wedding last weekend-had a nice Sangiovese with dinner (only saw the bottle briefly and forgot what the name was). Later I went back to the bar and they were serving one of the worst Merlots ever-I swear he poured it from a box!

QOTD: Best was a tie between Vinci Rafalot 2004 (given to me as a gift by a friend of the producer, 100% old vine carignan, amazing)and a bottle my girlfriend brought me back from Languedoc, ‘Cuve de la Colline Matisse’2005 from AOC Colliouze which I’d never heard of but was AMAZING). I know it’s a cheat to pick 2 but I couldn’t choose between them! Worst was a Corbieres which I can’t even remember the name of and didn’t finish. Came from our local tescos (English supermarket)and into a casserole in the end as it was that or down the sink, unusual for me to not to finish a bottle of wine.

Been luck last couple of weeks as I’ve been gited some great stuff!

Hope you had a nice holiday and glad you’re back.

Welcome back! Wondering what you thought of Turkish wines. Having imbibed myself 6 odd years ago, wasn’t impressed.

QOTD: Luckily went wine tasting in Anderson Valley (Mendocino) within the last 2 weeks.

Best: Surprising Chardonnay (which I normally poo-poo) from tiny Standish.

Worst: Also surprising since I love Navarro, but their Chardonnays (2) were sour and eye-squinty.

Great to have you back. The t-shirts are looking great – excellent job! Glad after all that hype surrounding the Oregon vs. California Pinot tastings it wasn’t a pay-per-view event…

QOTD – Best wine over the last couple of weeks was Whitestone Winery “Lake Roosevelt Shores Vineyard” Columbia Valley 2002 Merlot. Least memorable was the Turner Road Vineyards 2003 Lodi Shiraz.

Just wondering: my small allocation of the Sea Smoke Cellars, Santa Barbara County (Sta. Rita Hills) Pinot Noirs arrived yesterday (Ten, Botella and Southing); have you had occasion to try any of these yet?
