  • Great episode.

When we go out to a nice dinner, I we usually try a new wine.

QOTD: I’m becoming a fan of Pinot Gris this summer. Had it for the first time in Hawaii and have had it a few times since.

    Great episode.

You are so right about the ones we love. The other thing we don’t do is hug. Your friends and family deserve a hug. Everyone try it, you will like it!

To the wines, I gave the 2005 Schonleber an 87, and that was a better year, so it looks like we see that one the same.

Great episode; thanks GV. QOTD: going into this summer my answer would have been Rose but thanks to you and your encouragement to expand my palate the clear winner is Riesling…Trocken Riesling to be specific. Who knows that could change though; I’m going to crack open one of the Muscadets you recommended this weekend.

Hi. I’m new to the wine world and my mother got me on German wine and Seraco(if I’m spelling it right) so it is nice to learn more without shopping blind. That has not been working out for me

    Rene.

QOTD: I may be subconsciously drawn to certain wines in the summer; but I don’t have a summer or winter favorite.

Its great to see Gary fired UP! He’s like a football star training in the heat for the season with that insane wine tasting.

QOTD: Wine, thats it… just wine… who says I need to fit into this summer/winter rule wine thing

WOW!!!! Great marathon Gary!!! I’m a long time lurker, who wishes to congratulate you for putting out an outstanding effort in the heat. i could never pull that off in Mordor aka Jacksonville,Fl.

QOTD: Sadly I prefer goon, aka cheap boxed wine. Yeah it tastes like crap but it all i can afford on the weekends being a CKC.

    Gary,

Hot show! The stems with the brown tops – we call them cat-tails but I’m sure there is another name.

  • Thanks for going the extra mile today Gary!

QOTD: This summer… either a nice riesling (I’m liking Niagara up in Canada e.g. cave spring) or a semi-dry Vouvray (I’m w/ you on chenin blanc)

Dude you are raising the bar pretty high it’s only a matter of time before the Vaynernation demands the “hail” episode or heaven forbid the “heat” episode. Nice OAK MONSTER….. you suffer so we don’t have to.

QOTD: If I’m honest still more shiraz/syrah (screw the rules, it’s what I enjoy) BUT you have had SOME effect, I have had the Majella sparkling shiraz (interesting but poor QPR @ $27), I have had a few blends as well and I’ve actually chilled a half dozens whites that have been gifted (or regifted as the case may be) to me by well meaning, but uninformed guests that I haven’t been brave enough to open yet. Baby steps, baby steps.

I’ll do some research and if they’re worthy I’ll pawn one off… er, bring one to accompany the red to the dinner tomorrow.
