Congrats Tim! Go Twinkies!

I have not had an agliaglioxenfree. “Il” is said like “eel” in Italian btw. Not that I expect everyone to pronounce foreign words correctly, but if I can spread some knowledge then I'm going for it.

QOTD: I had a St. Croix from Winehaven. It was pretty good. Not too acidic and not too inky. It was a little thin but I think they did a great job with a difficult grape.

  • QOTD: I tried the Coppola white, I think Sauv Blanc from a few episodes back and really really liked it. I’m also drinking Gin and Tonics with a wedge of orange instead of lime because it’s summer.

Starting my first homebrew beer this week!

Gary, love it when you talk like this…”plant wine there”. Pretty tricky. We all know what saying, but no image can quite match the statement. Energy rams language. Thanks GV!!!! Now, excuse me while I go out and taste some vines!

  • GV, use that Pownce invite so we can continue to Friend. You. Up.

I think I’ll go get some more of the “Adult Lemonade” stuff I had last weekend. Not bad for 6 bones.

  • Hey Gary,

It’s been a while since I have commented last, but I haven’t missed a single episode. And now for some two-way communication action!

This episode is now in my own personal top ten; not because it’s the most entertaining, or because the wines turned out to be some of the greatest ever on WLTV, but because you devoted the show to a very important varietal that is still under the radar.

And because it’s your job to help us find undervalued wines in the marketplace, I think this is an important episode. Just like the first Pinotage episode, or when you talked about Tocai Firuliano or Ribolla for that matter.

About 4 months ago I suggested an episode to you about Aglianico, which is another reason I was excited about today’s video.

Oh and bye the way, you hit the nail on the head with the pronounciation of “Aglianico,” and when you didn’t say it right you corrected yourself. The easiest way to pronounce the varietal is by replacing the “g” with an “ey”… THus, “Aleyanico.”

On a different note, I’ve noticed how much wine stores are pushing Argentine Malbec with grilled meats like it is the cure to AIDS…. it’s a good pairing.

The post graduation job hunt has been going well, and I’m looking forward to getting married in two months!

QUOTD: For the 4th, I’m having some filet mignon on the grill, and while I’m grilling I’m going to have some Cava from Spain. But my friend may end up opening a 2004 Turnbull Cabernet… mmm

I’ll be popping some Rocky Creek Zin. Not to worry: if I hate it, I’m emailing you personally to tell you so, just like you instructed me to in that parking lot episode.
    Happy 4th!

great show. but i have always pronounced it Ah-ley-ah-NEE-co so i guess i’m wrong? thx for the knowledge.

4th will be 04 Vevre Les Clos or 04 Flying Goat Santa Rita Hills – depends on what i grill. i know, Grand Cru Chablis on Independence Day but remember they helped us big-time back then! have to take call too so consumption will be limited.

BTW Frank Viola freakin’ destroyed me when we both played JV hoops in 9th grade. he pwned me!!!

What a coincidence — I just picked up a bottle of aglianico, which I’d never tried before, and this is today’s topic. Awesome! (In case anyone wonders, I just tasted my bottle while watching the show, and I’m really enjoying this varietal.)

QOTD: My fiance and I are going on a picnic for the 4th, so I bought a nice, buttery chardonnay to go with some baked chicken and other picnic fare.

Great show, I love aglianico! Not a lot of bottles available to sample, but with any luck that part of the wine world will change.

QOTD: who knows! Might just try to surprise myself.

Read an article about you in Time Magazine. Couldn’t wait to view your vlog. I’m a newby. Looking forward to future topics.

Bringing the Thunder again! You’re on fire. Coviv into the shopping cart. Enjoy the transformers!

Tom F, congrats again, well deserved.

Nestle’s Quik with water? Even I wouldn’t go down that road (or 2% for that matter)

What happened to the dry heads? Cat got their tongue?

Good things hidden under flab?????? I don’t want to know.

QOTD: Hmmm, I’m not sure. I guess it’ll have to be California as an Aussie would be unpatriotic.

Also a big fan of the algianico and have introduced it to several of my friends. The reason I haven’t bought it lately is because I still have some I brought back with me when I was in Basilicata last year. (What percentage does that put me in?)

QOTD: Probably something from the Brooklyn Brewery, but the possibilities are still open.
