Congrats Tim! Go Twinkies!

I have not had an agliaglioxenfree. “Il” is said like “eel” in Italian btw. Not that I expect everyone to pronounce foreign words correctly, but if I can spread some knowledge then I'm going for it.

QOTD: I had a St. Croix from Winehaven. It was pretty good. Not too acidic and not too inky. It was a little thin but I think they did a great job with a difficult grape.

Also a big fan of the algianico and have introduced it to several of my friends. The reason I haven’t bought it lately is because I still have some I brought back with me when I was in Basilicata last year. (What percentage does that put me in?)

QOTD: Probably something from the Brooklyn Brewery, but the possibilities are still open.

Damned if I don’t feel like a smacked ass…I just e-mailed a complaint to Gary this morning about the lack of anything having to do with aglianico (my favorite red) on the vlog. Thanks, Gary, for spreading the word. Can we get something on Fiano di Avellino now?

Gary, another great episode as always, another wine I will have to seek out and try.
QOTD- 2006 Whitewater Hill Riesling, started it tonight and I will finish it tomorrow. A Colorado wine that is bringing the thunder!( at least in my opinion)

Thanks for doing a show on this grape. I’ve tried to learn about it and drink more of it over the last year.

No holiday up here tomorrow, but in my mind I’m popping a bottle of Michele Chiarlo Barolo with some steak at noon.

    Keep it going, Gary.

Love the Aglianicos. QOTD: I think I’ll bring one to the fireworks party I’m going to. OK, that and a Cava, maybe also a rose.

nice to see the aglianico coverage…. i think. i was hoping i could keep this one all to myself! but if it gets a *little* more popular and results in a wider variety of brands imported, i can live with it!

qotd: honestly, beer. getting some rhode island IPA’s from trinity brewhouse in downtown providence. best stuff in the world for backyard chillin’. the next few days will be more interesting… i’ve got all sorts of stuff lined up, from a spatlese riesling to a brachetto, to a dolcetto, to a hot viognier… it’s gonna be a great long weekend with lots of family action.

    have fun y’all… happy 4th!

QOTD: On July 4th I’ll be finishing a 1999 Burnley Rivanna White I opened today. What a wonderful surprise. I had overlooked this in my collection and thought I had waited too long to get to it. Wroooong! It was delicious with cheese and a rocking chair on the deck at sundown. AND this is a Virginia wine from a small mom and pop winery near Charlottsvile. I have been drinking their wines for over 20 years. They do not dissapoint. Jerry the 2thdr.

I’m going to admit I’m one of the many who has never heard of Aglianico. Will have to remedy that. Hate to say it but I voted for #3. I thought #1 was just a little to bit K-A (still, congrats Tim).

QOTD: Margarita’s – rocks no salt!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yay! SF glass!

Gary, thanks for the Aglianico ep. As far as I can remember, you’ve only done one other Aglianico on the show (ep185), and of all of your recommendations it’s one of my absolute favorites for the price (Di Majo Norante Contado Aglianico 2003).

QOTD: Tomorrow I’ll be drinking Johnny Walker Green Label, and maybe a bottle of my new favorite Gewurtztraminer: Chat. de Riquewihr Dopff & Irion “Les Sorcieres” Gewurztraminer 2003

Never had an Aglianico. Is it anything like a Negroamaro-based wine like Salice Salinetino? Try the Valle Cupa from Massimiliano Appolonio (Negroamaro/Primitivo). Imported to the USA by Vin Divino in Chicago. I’d love to see it on the show.

Great episode showcasing a very nice, yet intriguing varietal. I’ll need to order some of the “Vulture.”

QOTD: Either the ’04 Haywood Zin or ’00 Reignac with grilled baby back ribs on the deck and the ’05 Emmolo SB on the high school grounds watching the fireworks.

    Congrats to Tim F.

Happy Independence Day! A big shout-out to those who defend our country and our freedom.

    Cheers!

Frankie V – ’87 World Series MVP (even forgoing being in his brother’s wedding to start Game 1), ’88 AL Cy Young Award winner, ’89 whiny little b*#$! and traded to the Metropolitans for Kevin Tapani, David West, Rick Aguilera, and Tim Drummond (had to check baseball-reference.com for the last one); never great post-Twins career. Serves him right!

    Go V-Chizzle! Happy 4th!

QOTD: July 4th is one of those days I literally take a rare holiday from wine. Beer with Bar BQ at lunch, and a dry gin martini to begin the evening.

Aglianico is a fairly recent discovery for me in the last couple of years. It has become one of my favorite Italian wines below the Tuscan border. I will have to try to find the Coviv.
