Could you make a black and tan equivalent with wine?

  • JamesN.

QOTD; How about a basic GSM with about 3% Pinot Blanc.
I have had a Chamborcin with Vidal Blanc, considering I am not a big fan of Hybrid Varietals, the blend wasn’t too bad.

  • David Grega (CMBTvet)

2 PARTS PINOTAGE 1 PART PETIT VERDOT …..DON’T KNOCK IT TILL U TRY IT!!!

    GREAT episode as usual.
For the mixing qotd bit, I’d like to see the classy Cab Sauv spiked up with an aromatic fruit bomb like a Riesling or a Gewurztraminer (90:10 ratio)…might be scary!!
    Cheers

    Great episode.
    Also a Magpie addict here….amazing.
    Don’t walk…run.

    QOTD:
Of course i would start with the Bartles grape and then add a little Jaymes. Yummy.

    Seriously:
    Corvina and Riesling

  • Thanks Gary for this very inspiring episode. I havent noticed before, that Chapoutier was doing something in Australia.
QOTD: better leave this blank – there are better talented guys out there doing the Cuvée-Job 🙂

You’ve been coming up with real interesting episode ideas lately, Gary. Well done. I enjoy Shiraz-Viogniers too but haven’t had too many.

For all the pinot-gewurztraminer people out there, Marcel Deiss is making those although probably not in the way you’re thinking.

    QOTD: Barbera-Gewurztraminer

QOTD: I’d like to see Cabernet Franc blended with a white, but I don’t have a good feel for how the different whites would make it taste. That would be a great party – a 1.5 or so of a red and 5 whites – blend your own. I’d like to try Zenaida Cellars Zephyr with zinfandel, syrah, and viognier.

It’s like the Viognier helps tone down the shiraz. Almost like it dilutes the wine.
    Nice episode.
If I haven’t said it before, “thank you” gary. I appreciate the effort and work you do. Much appreciated.
    all the best,
    T.

as for the qotd …. I’d like to see your wine collection blended into my cellar.

  • I think this show sort of tastes in my mouth what a Cote Rotie might taste like. An interesting blend that catches your attention like an interesting show that comes in like a surprise. Definitley another blend to try soon!

QOTD: Garnacha Tinta/Albarino for an interesting indigenous Spanish blending action. Perhaps this might actually be good?
