I'm selling lindaflor also here in Belgium. Gary you're right about the tasting notes. But you should've tried with pure chocolate. I love milk chocolate too. But you need the bitterness of pure choc. Go ahead and try it.
Do not forget if you taste the lindaflor (also the Chardonnay) there is a little sparkle of mentol. It becomes very intresting if you can find this.

Regards,

Alex

Congrats on the 300th! you have definitely changed my wine world. I was at a wine tasting party this past weekend and a lively discussion came up about doing a blind tasting. I was very much in favour of it while others had a need to see the labels.
You keep wine fun and bring a lot of knowledge to the shows. To more future episodes. Cheers!

Hey Gary V! Thank you????? No, no, no….

  • Congrats Gary on 300 eps!

The scurge of ‘old school’ wine culture!
I’ve found it interesting (and pretty funny) that I hear ‘Vayner-isms’ mentioned by people in the wine industry who say they don’t watch the Thunder Show. Keep up the good work. The old school wine folks are starting to pay attention! (And we’ll continue to excuse the occasional mangling of diction and pronunciations!)

    Thunder Cats Hoooooohhhhhhhh!

Congrats on 300 episodes and thanks for all your effort.

I had to go out of town for business and didn’t get to watch the episode until tonight (saturday night).

Just to put my two cents out there, I really appreciated your comment about not “over analyzing wines.” The thing that annoys me the most about wine culture in this country is the latent anxiety that a wine isn’t any good if it doesn’t come out on top of rigorous tasting as being perfect in every way. It is my personal belief that there is a time and a place for almost all wines and by thinking this way I probably get to enjoy wine much more than many people. I can go into a wineshop and buy any bottle with confidence, and then drink it whenever the mood seems right to me. Sometimes my tasting notes are detailed and complex, sometimes they read like this, “Good with friends and dinner, didn’t think too much about the wine.” On the rare occaision that I pick up a truly awful bottle, I just laugh about it, like I did with the infamous (okay, infamous in an inside joke kind of way) “Pirate Wine.”

For me, wine has become part of the way I live and sometimes it is profound, but many times it is not and doesn’t need to be for me to enjoy it all the same.

  • Gary, from Panama, Antonio Touriño and Mónica Araúz just left our home, and we had a great evening. We all rolled on the floor, watching you sing twice!!! Our laughs are worth money!! Two SOLID bottles of wine, GREAT PICKS! I can almost say that I liked the Rioja better, but the Malbec delivered and incredible (read tremendous) bouquet, and sensational texture and cream that filled the mouth so incredibly. Again, great two picks that made out for a wonderful evening for the four of us, and a fun show. Need not say that we love you. God bless, always. We are expecting that great announcement this coming week. We’re faithfully suscribed to this vlog daily. After your two great bottles, we closed the evening with a Chateau D’Rolland Sauternes 500 ml bottle. Need not comment any more. 300 times Congratulations!!!!!!!!! and Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for 300. I can’t believe it’s been that many. I picked up somewhere around episode 100, and since then I’ve laughed and I’ve cried and I’ve had some wine and then laughed again. Now I’m on the edge of my seat, waiting to find out what the announcement is on Wednesday.

And I’d like to throw in the fact that, with summer nearing the end, you’re running out of time to throw a bottle on the roof for a couple of weeks for the heat episode. 😉

A few ideas for coming episodes:

1)Gary Vaynerchuk, I know you like Sancerre, so how about an episode on “poor man’s Sancerre”. Menetou-Salon, Quincy and Reuilly often bring a good deal of Sancerre-quality for less money.

    2) Madrian and/or the South West of France in general. (Bordeaux-ish Pecharmant and Bergerac, Cahors)

    3) Wines of Jura and/or Savoie

  • I vote for more simultaneous tastings like this. They are a lot of fun for the boys and girls (read: the boys can get away with buying more wine with the excuse of the tasting). Plan another one soon.
