Loving Daily Grape, GV. This is the first WLTV episode I’ve watched since it came out. Wanted to go OLD school.

QOTD: Imaginary story: yesterday, I walked into Wally’s to say hello to Manuel, their Italian buyer. Lo and behold, there was Gary, doing his own zoomie zooms with the wine bottles. I got to taste some Palo Lato Chard with him and shoot the s*** with him about all the great wine stores in the world and how I’m loving his new show. I bought him a bottle of Chinon to taste and then hit the road.

First time to see the show. Great show on Pauillac #301. You should offer the shows on DVD (1-100, 101-200, etc.) for review or for sale for newbies. Also you need a button where I can printout the wines for that show with ratings, pricing, and some comments. Great work.

great episode, thanks for turning me on to bordeaux.

Way to go, rooting for Bordeaux. I’m definitely more of an Old World wine gal (especially cause I lived in France for awhile), so I appreciated this show. Thanks for the tips on the solid, but not overly priced vintage yearsâ?¦Iâ??ll have to search some of the thunder bringers.

QOTD: Just have to give you props for (indirectly) helping me get a job at a wine shop in Madison, WI cause I gave a shout out to you in my interview there. Just started and very pumped to be in this world, helping people choose wines, taste â??em, and let â??em know about your show.

    Keep on bringing the thunder!

Just checked my Bordeaux collection its at about 40% (Poy-Yack) pretty high considering there are 9 (out of 27) serious appelations in the Gironde. I almost popped my one and only ’01 Pichon Lalande to sip along with you but since its pizza night..nagh. I’ll do a replay when I do.
I know what you mean about labels, my wife buys ANYthing that has a dog, cat, horse or crab on it. She drinks, and likes, this stuff called Blue Crab that tastes like the Kool-Aid pitcher guy took a drunken wiz in a bucket of vinegar. But then again she dunks her lump crabmeat into cider vinegar at crabfeasts, so there’s no accounting for taste. Hey! she married me. At least I don’t have to tell her to “Leggo my Margaux!”

Serious wines, serious review, I so need to try some good Bordeaux. Loved the Cork action, well aimed.

QOTD – My better half (significant other, she who must be obeyed etc) used to jump up as soon as she heard your opening lines “HELLO EVERYBODY….” and join in with the rest of the intro, it was very funny to watch. However recently you’ve been posting the episodes so late (for the U.K.) that she’s asleep on the sofa by the time you’re on.

Loved the tasting on Bordeaux. It took me back to my days there and late night drinks at the Burdigala bar asking the bartender (Jean) for his best cognac. Pauillac is such a special place. I totally relate to your excitement from the last wine in the episode. Great work!

  • QOTD: Gary, I’ve been evangelizing you and the show since almost the beginning. Lots more people are getting into quality wines than ever before and need a guide – a sherpa, if you will. Though I emphasize using their own palettes, I always recommend your show as fun, interesting, and informative. Here’s to many hundreds of more episodes!

    Good episode.

    QOTD: Sorry I have none.

    My 2 cents:
What about the Languedoc ? I think it deserves more
attention because there is so much good stuff there.

  • Whenever I run into someone from Morris County, my natural question is if they know the Wine Library. They usually do, but are also usually ignorant of the WLTV aspect. So I become a WLTV cheerleader. It’s group dynamics after all.

With this in mind, perhaps we can vote on which episodes would best get a newbie hooked. I personally think it would be one with a combination of raves and pans and some variance from Parker and Spectator.

Perhaps a dedicated, easy-to-remember URL with links to a few prime point-of-entry episodes might prove to be worth the trouble.

  • Oh man. Watching you drink those made me yearn deeply for some.
I WILL be going out and buying some soon. And I’m going to have to work harder to support my habit. Damn you. [kidding]

Thank you for the amazing show. I feel it’s fate that you tasted the ’04 Pichon-Baron and I watched it today. It goes on sale locally today and I’ve been drooling over it every time I see it. I guess it’s time to pull the trigger.

stumbled upon your website while searching Pauillac – and subscribed immediately.I googled Pauillac because: Im a South African wine lover teaching English in Hong Kong at Lan Chi Pat Secondary School and we are involved in a Chinese-French exchange program – thanks to a famous opera singer and a great wine from Pauillac!!! Our students are off to France on May 1st and will be guests of St Jean school in Pauillac. Unfortunately I won’t be joining them although I have the honour of preparing them for this wonderful experience.
How about trying some of South Africa’s famous wines on your show? My personal favourite is Diemersfontein Pinotage.

QOTD: This funny thing happened much later on. I attended the
500th show live from Crushpad in San Francisco. After having
Gary sign my book and meeting him only once. During the 500th
show he asked if in the 2nd wine andbody could smell the vanilla.
I raised my hand and Gary replied,”Thanks, Doug.” Now I am forever
referenced in the 500th episode of WLTV.

  • Gary, I subscribed last week, and here's a quick comment to show some love.

Love the show! Love the descriptions! Love the energy! Great show!

My suggestion is to do a Photoshop Contest. Take a snapshot of one of your episodes and use it as a source image. Or just have people submit any kind of “funny” wine related image so that you can choose your fave.

qotd: I got a few, but I'll go w this one: I 1st saw ya on youtube for the Arizona Stronghold episode when I was looking for info on Maynard's and Eric's wines. I remember seeing you and hearing your descriptions about fruit roll-ups in the microwave etc., and thinking “who the hell is this guy.” You even acknowledged that behavior in some episode not too long ago before this one and mentioned how you're an acquired taste and grow on people. I can say the same about myself and having watched 400 more episodes so far, I'm looking forward to the rest I haven't seen yet. (And the ones on the way, especially if it includes a wine from the Chateau-Chalon AOC.)

I still prefer some Cali Cabs over Bordeaux.. (price has alot to do with it) http://www.winelx.com
