    wooohooo TOP 120 again!!!
QOTD – Yes I have had dolcetto.
Many times, my little sweet one.
Enzo Boglietti is one producer that comes to mind.

so for episode 212 – what was the deal – you wanted to remind us of (a) your confession of stealing from KMart, (b) the “your momma told you you don’t get nuttin for free” line (i never got a wristband by the way), (c) your theory that 16 bones for dolcetto is a good deal – almost like returning shaquille o’neil figurines to kMart, or (d) you really like two buck chuck wines but can’t admit it because you truly want to be a wine snob.
I suppose all will reveal itself shortly.

    wishing you the best.
    T.

PS. No wonder why K Mart went bankrupt.

    Gary,

Been listening a couple weeks. Really diggin it. Dolcetto is the secret! It’s definitely one of my favorites. There is this great brand (I’m not sure if it is a producer or an importer) that I think you should check out called Gagliardo, they do a Dolcetto d’Alba, a Fallegro (really delicious), and a few others. The Dolcetto though has a little hint of effervescence to it, like a flat soda, can’t really explain why, but it’s very refreshing and my favorite with pasta. If you know why this Dolcetto has a hint of carbonation I’d be very interested, I’ve had other Dolcetto’s that don’t have this, and truth be told I liked them less. What is your take?

QOTD:I’m sure I had Dolcetto d’Alba, but I cant remember what was it? I’m kind of getting the idea of corkd…taking notes!!!(specially when you have amnesia)

  • Toke-Dawg

QOTD: No, I’ll try one as soon as I find one that’s kosher.

Great episode Gary. The first and best dolcetto I’ve had was in fact the Elio Altare (2004 I believe) that I had in a great restaurant in Alba. They are delicious wines and so often great values as well. I will say that I wish I had a wine library here in the SF bay area, the ’05 Altare was selling for $25 around here.

P.S. Your boy Tom Brady’s new son’s initials are JET. I can’t believe you didn’t mention this.

  • QOTD: I’ve had Dolcetto only twice that I recall, and neither occasion was recent. Sometimes I see it in stores and almost pick it up–but I’m often lured away by a bottle of something else. Next time I’m at the wine shop, I’ll definitely grab a Dolcetto. “Next time” = within the next 2 days.

And see, I came out of lurkaholic mode again, just a few days ago, to play around with Cork’d. And I like your iPhone giveaway idea. And: good episode. AND when I was in college, I had a professor whose pet peeve was “And” as the start of a sentence–which was too bad for him, because it’s something I’ve done for 30something years and his aggravation merely resulted in blue book exams from me that were intentionally full of “And [words]” sentences. And this is why it’s dangerous to give me a place to ramble like this (oh how I ramble), though this was somehow tied to your Thundershow title explanation somehow when I first started down this tangent (don’t ask me how; hell if I know).

And… yeah, that’s all I got for now.

Except for this: The Altare Dolcetto D’alba sounds right up my alley. I’ll be sad if I can’t find it anywhere.

  • I can’t believe you like stinky Febreeze better than matches. With your nose, I had assumed you would be repulsed by anything over-the-top perfumey in an aerosol can. Next thing I know, you’ll be telling us you use Axe body spray on a regular basis. It’s like saying you’d rather have a Mollydooker than a hermitage. …I guess there is always the danger of burning the house down though.

QOTD: I’ve never had a Dolcetto, I’m sorry to say. I’d go out and buy one right now, but I’m out of luck in this area. I guess I’ll just have to wait until you resume shipping to NV 😛 😉

    QOTD – I’ve had the Dolcetto, but I can’t say I have a favorite.

I just saw Lars’ website. I’ve seen a bunch of the stuff he’s been in and didn’t recognize him. What a trip.

  • Again a very inspiring, eyeopening Episode, Gary! Dolcetto is often overlooked, nearly unknown, and for that, not much requested by the consumers. But that can change quickly, cause we are changing the wine-world, … 😉

I have had a Dolcetto from Clerico Langhe Visadi. It brings back memories because I was drinking it last Aug. 29 when I got home from the hospital after seeing my father for the last time and I will always remember that and then almost a year to that day you are featuring Dolcetto on your show.

QOTD: I’ve had some Dolcetto but don’t really remember the producers.

And Gary, better watch how you treat Cheetara. She and I were quite close back in the day and if you mistreat her I’ll crush your face off. Have a great day!
