Mott’s coooool in my book even though he’s not into foie gras

For a long time I thought that Chris Mott was Gary’s mother, because it sounded to me like Gary was saying “Ma”, but then I heard Chris’s voice and figured it out. I was a little disappointed though.
Apropos someone’s remark, I don’t feel that there any wretched accents, only accents that are true or not true to their origins.
QOTD: I’m not sure if I should open the door to Long Island Cab Francs because Long Island Merlots would surely follow. Although today, my opera buddy spend two hours with Delta trying to get the exact NY flight we wanted for La Boheme, et al in April, and by the time we get into NY we might not be so picky.
I loved the mint chocolate chip cookie analogy. I could see it being taken away from me bit by bit.

  • Mr. Cabernet

QOTD: 1, but I would willingly try more.

    BIG UPS to the Mottster!

I learned something today, I though Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauviogn where about the same thing. I have had two maybe three Francs. Next time I will pay more attention. Vegitable verus fruit interesting!

QOTD: I was weened on Cab Franc. Granted it was in Virginia where most are pretty fruity but it’s still close to my heart. I just picked up a Napa one the other day that I’m excited about. So on the whole: 4-5 different cf’s.

  • Mott!! Hey, bug Gary about opening up the emails from me (I know you can read who these are from). There’s a graphic in there just for you (don’t worry, it’s all good). It’s been in the hole this planet calls Gary’s inbox, but it’s there I swear! (poor guy gets too much email!)

So to counter that,, gotta put your email up and let it be overly mailed to for a week!

    Gary,
I have a dozen or so Cab. Franc. . I enjoy this varietal and I have one bench mark that all others are measured by: Helena View Johnston Vineyard Estate 1993. Blow you away. Over the top rich, full body with tannin in check. Not much around any more but worth the effort. Charlie Johnston is the owner, and has had some ups and downs in production due to a health problem I believe. He has emailed me and distribution is a hurdle now as nobody wants wines that are not a guaranteed sell. EVERYBODY CALL CHARLIE.
(Just checked helenaview.com, still shows some 93 available).

    See Ya’

QOTD: I’ve had under 5 cab franc’s on purpose, but probably tasted more. I like ’em.

  • Gary, glad to see you giving NY Cab Franc some props. After hanging with you last weekend, I find it interesting that you recommended a wine from a producer whose name begins with “wolf.”

  • Mott is Hot! However, not the kind of heat that brings down pants and panties, but the heat that brings down shacks and shanties.

  • Ken B.

    Gary,

QOTD: Honestly, I haven’t had very many Cab Francs. I will try to correct the situation.

    Good show!

Love the MOTTster, he’s a good sport but tell him not to be sprouting a little sumtin’ sumtin’ near me, homey don’t go that way.

Please don’t talk to the wine bottle ever again, you’re scaring me. Paumanok could have been a contender although it sounds like it needs some help – mint chocolate chip cookie without the mint or chocolate chips? BORRRING.

Stop, asking for Thundercats if you don’t open your mail. There’s a FedEx sitting there since last Thursday. Another package goes out tomorrow but it’s not Thudercats and I’ll probably send it Parcel Post just ’cause.

QOTD- I’m sure I did but obviously not that memorable.

I’d like to go fishing with Mr. Mott. I don’t normally fish and, to be frank, don’t really fancy catching one but I’m sure there would be a some nice gentle banter.

QOTD: I have had a couple dozen cab francs in the last two years or so. I particularily enjoy the ones from the Loire.

I keep trying to pin my friends down on a round the word cab franc tasting and will now have to try to add a long island version into the mix.

  • Thanks for another interesting episode GV. I’d like to try some more Chinons, eventhough I haven’t been impressed by any to date. I’ve had a couple of Italian cab francs that I love. I’ll keep on trying them, maybe someday I’ll find a Chinon or new world cab franc that I’ll really relish with food. I should taste more of them.

QOTD: I was introduced to the Chatter Creek Cab Franc a few years ago at a wine-themed restaurant in Duck, NC and loved it. Actually, WLTV carries it http://winelibrary.com/reviewwine.asp?item=34208 and I bet would crush the LI entries. Just a guess.

Are you ready to rummbbbbbbbllllllle! It’s show time!

    Colts 30 Saints 20

Peyton will throw a TD pass to the rookie of the year: Anthony Gonzalez. Watch him.

    Dom

    P.S. Go Colts!

    Can’t believe nobody’s done this yet…

    Who’s Chris Mott? 😀 😀

  • Most of my Cab Franc experience has been blends of CF that my buddy Kaz has done over the years. I do think he did a CF by itself once, so I’m sure I’ve had that. For someone who’s into big reds (not Aussie though, sheesh the alcohol is like drinking Jager… well, OK, not exactly the same), drinking Cab Franc is a bit like kissing your sister.

Love the Mottster b/c he sent me the welcome e-mail when GV was too busy.

QOTD: I’ve had four or five I think. A couple from WA State and a couple from the Loire. A couple have been too thin to be interesting on their own, but still good with food.
