Love the Mottster b/c he sent me the welcome e-mail when GV was too busy.

QOTD: I’ve had four or five I think. A couple from WA State and a couple from the Loire. A couple have been too thin to be interesting on their own, but still good with food.

Okay, I’m not sure what @GARYVEE is, I know if I send it to either email address it will get read next season, and I’m not that well versed in Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Viddler, Cork’d or Pownce friends to know what the heck ypu’re talking about so I’ll post it here:

    Colts 27 Saints 10

I also have Colts as one of my survivor pool picks hopefully so I can relax on Sunday while everyone else sweats it out.

Still lovin’ Mr. Mott, WLTV would not be WLTV and the forums wouldn’t be the forums without his tireless efforts. The guy keeps the Vayniacs in line even on the weekends and evenings. Come on, Gary show him some love he can take home to the Mrs (in his paycheck).

Chris, did I do that right? Paypal me if it works.

I’ve had quite a few cab francs and they always seem to have a lot more fruit than I expect. I’m not a person who likes vegetables AT ALL, but I love cab franc and sangiovese which seem to be considered austere and vegetal for the most part. I’m interested in trying some wines from the lesser known places in America i.e. North Carolina, New York, and they even make some here in Florida. I think cab franc is the perfect blending grape for a lot of the very fruity ones, which together should produce the perfect balance between old and new world that most of us love.

I’ve loved Cab Franc since 1996 when I tried my first solo (non-blended). I’ve tried probably 35-40 Cab Franc’s. I will alwasy taist one if it’s being poured in a tasting room in wine country. I really like Aged Gouda with them!

Well, well, well….. my first and only Cab Franc happened by accident. I was out of town about a year ago in a conference and one night went out for a couple of bottles of wine. I grabbed La jota thinking that it was a regular cab. It was very funny when I oppened that bottle and took a sniffy sniff I was blown by pleasant aromas but when I had a sip I got really interested about it. There was somenthing unusual with it. It had some black berry aromas but a lot more of the veggie stuff, only to take another look @ the bottle and discover it a was a franc…. which everybody in the celebration adored. To be honest I loved it. Until then I had this wrong idea about cab frans. I thought they wouldn’t be so good for a stand alone wine, but for blending it to get roundness. Well after that expirience I bought a couple of Del Dotto Cab francs which I keep in my cooler. Goshh there’s so much to learn about this wine world that sometimes I wonder If I would get to know everything. Thanks Gary for your humble advices.

Admit it – MOTT is the Puppetmaster; thus GV is….

qotd. 4-5 cab francs – really like’m; waiting to find the right one to love.

QOTD – None. But I have had some right bankers that have provided a little Cab Franc Funk, yo. Not big on the vegetable salad in my wine and that bell pepper aspect on the sides of my tongue annoys the crap out of me!

Had many Cab Francs —- Loire area, and Niagara mainly. But also some Cab Franc dominant blends from Pommerol, Fronsac, etc. Always best with vegetal aspects. Yum yum.

  • Wow. Great episode. Why?

Well part because of the Long Island focus (hey… I’m born & raised in Suffolk County) but secondly… I’ve NEVER had a Cab Franc. Really. But definately something that I’m going to have to look for and try.

I went to an offline earlier this summer where we lined up 28 Cab. francs and went at ’em. Interestingly the ones from the East Coast, especially Virginia, did very well. Great show!

QOTD: Cab Franc grows great in Virginia. I’ve had so many of them from VA wineries I’ve lost track. You oughta come try some one day. I agree it’s a very versatile wine with food and I love the characteristic pepper though here in VA we try to harvest it ripe enough to minimize the vegetal flavors.

Chris Mott is a great guy and I appreciate his efforts on the show and the forums.

QOTD: I have had a handful of Cab Francs at tastings but have yet to buy a full bottle to sit down and really try it. Its been on the list of things to try for while, but the length of that list, and the size of my wine budget bear no resemblance to each other whatsoever. Someday I’ll get there.

I appreciate the show on Long Island wines. I think its important to give support and patience to places like Long Island that are trying to make good stuff happen.

I’m pretty down with the Mottster. But my friend, Billy, only likes things that he’s seen before. That’s why he doesn’t like warewolves. So, Billy says, he’d like to see Senor Mott once in a while, so that he can believe in his existance.

QOTD: I’ve had a fair amount of French stuff around the 15$ price point and have been pleased pairing it with pizza, pasta, stew and a whole lot of other foods.

Hello Chris Mott. Although I don’t know you, I respect you. I like your scary eye avatar. I liked your dog avatar too, but the eye is way more intimidating. (No offense to your dog……your dog looked very sweet!)

Mott, great episode today, you really captured the thunder brought by the that host guy, keep up the great work!!!!!
QOTD- I think I may have tried one in Canada two weeks ago, but I had so many different wines that day I need to try a couple by themselves to really form a good impression.

    Appreciate all you do, Mott!

QOTD: Only tried one Cab Franc, from a local vineyard. Probably not typical but interesting.

  • I thought Cabernet Franc was a Bordeaux varietal. . .

Gary, do you have any kosher Cab Franc? I didn’t think so.
