  • I thought Cabernet Franc was a Bordeaux varietal. . .

Gary, do you have any kosher Cab Franc? I didn’t think so.

Don’t know much about Mott, but know I only go for the mott’s apple sauce when I have the stomach flu! JUST KIDDING! HUGS AND KISSED OUT TO U FOR ALL YOU DO!

QOTD: I can only remember one Cab Franc I had several years ago in Canada. I don’t know much about it because it was on the client’s expense account :>)

Hey I have a lot of respect for the Mottster, after all look at his job… how about a split screen episode with half Gary and half Mott… actions vs. reactions.

    Gary,

You have to try the Jamesport Vineyard Cab Franc. It recently won the best “Red Wine in NY” Award.
I think you will be very pleased.

Hope you enjoyed some time with the wife.

Good ep. “Long Island Cab Francs” couldn’t have been further away
from what I drink – or even have access too – as a topic, and it
    was still interesting.
QOTD: Quite a few, but I’m guessing mostly the wrong ones…

Another great episode, Gary! Will have to expand my exposure to the big ‘CF’. Those I’ve had were not my style. Apparently, I need to try more. And Mott…of course we love you!!!!

Great episode, Cab Franc is probably my favorite now. Its much more interesting than Syrah or Merlot.
QOTD: About 40, mostly new world but some Chinon. My favorite now is the Owen Roe from the Yakima Valley in Washington.

    MOTTTTTTT ROXXXXXXX

QOTD: I do not think I have had a Cabernet Franc.
Recent finds are a BIG Pinot Noir that I truly like (I usually am not a Pinot fan) And a petite syrah that tastes more like a Cabernet Sauvignon.

  • Robert F

QOTD: Since I lived in the Loire valley for 5 months 30 minutes from the town of Chinon, I have no idea. Too many to count.

Only 1, Laureau Anjou Clos Fremur 2005. It was disappointing, weak leather/olive flavors, medicinal on the midpalate. Definitely want to try others though. Happy to see some L.I. wines being evaluated and showing some strength.

Gary, you got me intrigued about chinons, so I went back and checked episode # 36. Boy oh Boy it’s amazing to see how your character and speech delivery has evolved! Great evolution, like wine, represent high quality 🙂

  • The Lurker Experience

    My first comment.

    1) I have had a few Cab Francs and have haven’t liked any of them but I will check out the Pelligrini if my local has it.
    2) I also thought Gary was saying “Ma” and talking to his mother the first few episodes I watched. Mott is like Silent Bob to Gary’s Jay, gotta love the straight man.
    2) Echinacea?

    That is all!

  • This isn’t the first time you’ve done a Long Island Cab Franc on the show.

QOTD: I’ve had at least a case worth of various Cab Francs, mostly from Chinon.

Gary, I’ve got three Thundercats for you, but I’m not sure of where to send them. I’ll search around and see if you’ve got a link to an address somewhere.

Mott, thanks for all your hard work!

  • Grape Expectations

Thank you Mr. Mott for all your good and faithful service to the Vayniac cause. I’ve worked at places where, if you did a good job, you got praise in lieu of a raise. But they were non-profit organizations. GV, I hope you’re paying this man what he’s worth.

QOTD: I am so old and I’ve drunk so many wines that I’m sure I’ve had cab franc at some point. But I’m so old and I’ve drunk so many wines, I can’t remember.

Haven’t had Cab Franc yet, though I have 2 bottles in the cellar. May have to take them out this weekend to celebrate the return of NFL football.

Love the Mott, and love the Cab Franc all freakin’ day long.

Love the Chinon, love the Bourgueil, love the Saumur, love the Anjou, love the occasional west coast CF even if most of them:Loire CF::Rhone Rangers:real Rhones. Except the Ironstone CF, which would be one of my favorite mass market $10 wines still if I could find it locally anymore.

How many? I suppose 15-20 different ones.

Damn shame about that Pellegrini, gone already. Don’t know from Long Island CF, because you almost never see it here. I did run across a Konstantin Frank CF in DSM, but at $22 I wasn’t about to take a flier on it.

Good man, Reggie Wayne. You’ve made me very happy.

QOTD: Never had a pure cab franc. Plenty of blends that I really liked it in though.

I think you need to make a MottMan tee-shirt. In the style of ThunderCats. Yep, I’d buy that.
