Mott is like the first Cabernet Franc of today’s episode – Workmanlike! Much love for the Motts-ster. MUCH LOVE!

  • JamesN.

    Mott is awesome!
QOTD; not a big Cab. Franc fan. The flavor profile just doesn’t match my taste. I have had about four 100% cab franc wines just not my thing. I love the complexity it gives to a wine when used in a blend. I love old word wines, but not this varietal. I have had a 100% cab. franc dessert wine that was quite nice, a very interesting wine, even though dessert wines make up only about 3% of my cellar, which is usually reserved for ports & sherry.

  • I love Cab Franc! We have a great Cab Franc at the winery I work at but other than that I’ve been fortunate to taste at least a dozen others as well. In fact I brought a blend that was predominately Cab Franc to Howell Mountain a few weeks ago, Gary remember you said it tasted like bell peppers and big league chew!

QOTD – I love cab franc like I love Mott. I don’t know either very well.

  • Gv ~ big ups to the Mottster, the show wouldn’t be the show without the man behind the camera, tru that !

QOTD: Way to many CF to count. Born and raised in Washington State, I believe gives Cab Franc a new home outside of France. There are a ton of CF’s here, ditto to the SteveW, the Owen Roe is a handful, although may be a little too new world style for GV. I used to make the DiStefano Sogno, 100% Cab Franc, good stuff from Yakima Valley.

    Cheers ~ MadMax

Who’d of thought you could grow grapes and make wine in Long Island!?!

QOTD: I’ve had as many Cab Francs as everyone but the Colts have had victories in the 2007 season (as of Thursday night.)

I like the mottster, but I looooooooove Cab Franc. I’ve only had approx 10, but 9 of them were good.

Looks like my colts kicked some butt tonight. Now, if we can just get the jets to humiliate the #$%! patriots….. Have a great vacation. Thanks for taping in advance.

Thanks for another exciting and thought provoking show Gary! I know you taped it last week but it still seems fresh to me…even tho we all know, you are twittering your bad self away in Maryland. (:according to you;)
I’ve been married a couple of times and know how important it is to spend quality time together with your wife. But, poor Lizzie, I don’t know her, but she must be quite strong, she reminds me of Pecos Bill, the cowboy who roped and rode a tornado!

She’s like him having to deal with you, right? I know you’re going nuts, but try to settle down a little for her and your sake OK? There’ll be plenty of games, deals and conferences left for you when you get back rest assured. (Even though everone else is doing and making them while you’re gone). So take it easy, Bro G, put your toes in the sand and a drink in your hand and have a great vacation, just like DL Roth does. They don’t call it “vacation” for nothing.

    Memorable forgotten quote:
Miles (to Jack): “I like all varietals. I just don’t generally like the way they manipulate chardonnay in California. Too much oak and secondary malolactic fermentation.”
    Jack: “Huh.”

Thanks again for a great show Gary and for doing a week’s worth in advance. It’s fun to see you “progress” with each show!

Cab Franc? I like em, but sorta rare. Lucas/Lewellen pretty good as was the one you brought(can’t remember the name) to LAPD/bust event last May. Funniest story ever!

And now for the final round: Who is the only person in the world to get busted while riding in the back of a limousine?

    Contestant: Gary Vaynerchuk!

Announcer: Correct! You may now drink some wine and watch WLTV!

BTW, hooked up with a hottie from Long Island when I was 18 and we made out for days in Concord Mass. Thanks for bringing back some great memories Bro G!

You know, you kill me! How you go about â??PEZ type descriptorsâ? and still try being optimistic? All you know is sweat bands and BS! …. Thereâ??s one thing about educating, and there is another about leading the uneducated into a black hole of nothingness. This is your way of leading the unpalatable! â??A little bit of meâ? brings a lot of hype with NO substance…. you should be ashamed of not helping those that truly need help.

I have never in my entire life heard such poor examples of â??agricultural artistryâ?? being displayed with such MTVism. You have had some great wines on your show that I would call a â??7 coarse mealâ?? and you have described them as a â??fried chicken tender appetizerâ??!

How can the people learn to develop their mouths, when you are to busy clouding their brains with your clouded mouth? You have developed a great vessel in leading the wine troupes into the beautiful world of wine with WineLibreryTV, but you are only delivering fluff… hope your good work gets better soon….. Thanks.

Great episode today. Thanks for taping ahead of time. I enjoy the delerious GV scolding the bottle!

QOTD: Many CF’s. I like the Chappallet CF and the Owne Roe is really nice too. I tried maybe 6 this past weekend in Napa and there were so many variations. Many wineries are planting it though.

GOTTA give the Mottster a little Vayniac love…

QOTD: Well, no- never had a (100% varietal) cab franc, although I’ve had Bordeaux-style wines that include a large portion of it…which means that it is high time I seek one out. But I did try my first Petit Syrah tonight! One more off the list, and plenty to go. Thanks, as always, for the guidance and suggestions, BIG G.

    Hi Mott!

QOTD: I’ve had a few cab francs. Usually in blends like the Petit Fombrauge St-Emilion Grand Cru (which is excellent). I used to live in the Anjou region so I’ve had some nice Saumur and Saumur-Champigy and some lesser known wines from that area. I also recently had a cab franc from Michigan which actually had the texture of and Irancy because of its light body. It was really nice though. I have a bottle of Justin Justification which is a blend of CF and other stuff, but I’m interested to try it.

Woah! ECWine! I can’t say I agree with anything you say! Being a wine retailer myself and dealing with the public every day I can tell you that you are totally wrong. I wonder if maybe you have a vested interest in a wine that was panned on this show… Anybody showing that much vehement hate when everyone else is having a great time and learning makes me very suspicious. I’m calling you out…

My friend makes wine and he made a 2006 Cabernet Frac Icewine that is DELICIOUS, especially with some rich, dark chocolate! I also have had Cab Franc when I’ve gone out with clients for dinner, but I couldnt tell you what they were – but theyre usually impressive! I have also had the 2004 Hosmer CabFranc (Fingerlakes NY) which was ok.

    Mott – you rock!

Good show today Gary. I’ve never had Long Island wine, but it sounds like there is potential!

  • I’ve never had a Cab Franc, or at least not by itself 🙂 I’m pretty sure I’ve had a wine with a small portion of it blended in. Being relatively new to the wine thing, I’m still trying to try as many different varietals as my budget will allow! Just discovered Carmenere last week and WOW! great stuff there. Thanks for taping ahead of time man. We ALL appreciate it, well maybe not ECwine, he’s a h8er 😛 Good game last night eh? It’s like Dungy has unlocked this hidden mysterious power in his team and they’re now unstoppable 😛 Not a huge colt’s fan but they came out and played with conviction and precision.

  • I’ve had the Frederic Mabileau Bourgeuil 2005 and the Domaine de la Noblaie Chinon 2004, both memorable. I think off hand WLTV has covered them both.

Mott is great – and we learn something new about him every show!

Gary – you were all riled up this show, very amusing.

Cabernet Franc – love them. Had the Mabileau Bourgeuil, enjoy Chinon and Saumur. Saumur has more depth and power. Had Cabernet Francs from Napa. They are trying to taste and have the character of Cab Sauvignon – but can’t, and they charge like they are Cab Sauvignons as well! (Another reason why I continue to pare back the varietals that I purchase from California)

    GV,

Thumbs up to Mott for being the straight guy who keeps you off of the ceiling!! We all need someone like that, don’t we? You’re lucky to have him and so are we!

Thanks for a metro area show – nice to see. Can Jersey grow grapes? It is the Garden state isn’t it??

And thanks to you MetalDave for calling out ECWine. Perhaps just some sleep or a drink might help.

I think Gary did those Gang symbols again at the beginning of the show. Maybe he is calling out a hit on someone?!
Is he a NJ Wine Banger? Is Mott the leader pulling the strings.
    Love the Mott!
And pretty happy that Gary gave props to Entourage. I would have thought he would be too busy twittering to watch a solid show like that.
QOTD: Maybe 1. Not by choice though.

    RESPONSE to ECWine:
I, and many of us, have learned and continue to learn a TON about wine from Gary. You are a simply a POMPOUS snob…..and exactly the kind of person we hope would be agitated by WLTV. Part of me wants to say, “Stop watching and go away”, but I think I’d prefer that you watch EVERY single day and get REALLY, REALLY angry. Get a life!!!
