    Thanks for the Ports Gary. Wish you had done this a month ago, I was getting antsy and had to crack open a 1994 Fonseca cause I COULDN’T WAIT. Loved it, but MAN the 94’s are going to last forever. – have to buy more of them.

    Hi Gary,

    Thanks for your show, I am eagerly awaiting to buy the DVD box “WLTV complete first season” (or first vintage? or first growth?).

    In the last few years, Chilean top wines have scored very well in many competitions, maganize lists and blind tastings. Could you please do a video-tasting on some of them? My suggestions: (1) Concha y Toro Don Melchor, (2) Domus Aurea, (3) Seña, (4) Almaviva.

    Tecmo Bowl was a classic. Baseball Stars was one of the first games I knew of where you could start to build your team, name players, all that stuff. Good times.

    Also, your timing on the Walla Walla wines was great for me. Headed over there next weekend and quite excited to find and stop by Mark Ryan and Bordreax Cellars. Big thanks to JayZee for those reco’s.

    I am a 1977 baby so I have a tonne of Warre’s and Fonseca 1977. Cracked my first one for my 30th and you are so right….very good but just so much still there for my 40th and 50th b-days!!!

    Robin C., my husband plays the same kinds of games. Usually James Bond and Star Wars. I am never quite sure what the goal is, but he seems happy.

    If you like the Roaring Forties (and SO DO I, mmm) a few others to put on your radar:
    Paradise Blue, a double-cream blue cheese from Hookâ??s Cheese Co. and Rogue Smokey Blue (like magic in your mouth; itâ??s amazing).

    Poured a port tasting at work a few weeks ago and was a big fan of the Graham’s six grapes. Unless I’m pouring, I don’t drink it: Port is usually edging right out of my price range.

    It wasn’t a RPG, it was a real-time Zelda-style world-scrolling, sword-swinging fighting game and it was the biz-omb. It involved extensive map consultations and frequent replacment/upgrade of weapons such as: chain flail, and firesword ( i think, i might’ve made those names up, it was a long time ago.) it was a great game though, apparently still praised in those circles of retro-video game worshippers who learn about praising such things.

    Wow, I can’t remember the last time I saw you rate something 96pts; being a poor member of the GSC, I’m going to have to skip eating for a couple weeks, and invest in a bottle of Dow’s!

    QoTD: I’m going to have to go with Double Dragon II. Mario 3, Zelda, and Ninja Gaiden were pretty hot, too. I’m going to have to go play Double Dragon II now … there goes getting any work done for a while 🙂

    I was a 3rd grader (1985) living in Yokosuka, Japan and I remember my mom taking me and my little bro to the department store to buy the yellow Family Computer (Famicon) cartridge of SM1 the week of release. This was when NES was still only Nintendo’s plan to take over the world.

    I also remember walking 20 minutes to the gaming arcade at the local Japanese Walmart equivalent near my house to watch a kid use the warp pipes in the ‘blue rock’ stage 2 and running all the way back to my house in excitement. Warp pipes, warp pipes, aaaahhhh!!!

    Oh the memories.

    QOTD: Super Mario Brothers. My Japanese buddy on the block had it years before it arrived in Canada. Man was he cool for that.

    Interesting ep! Never appreciated Ports…actually thought they tasted like Nyquil!? Did you decant them in the glass? For how long???? Not knowing what makes a good Port depletes my knowledge and experience. The ones I have tasted…urg!!!

    QOTD: Never got into Ninetendo…not a video player…but Atari was my thing- PONG was my speed, PacMan, Centipede..I know I’m dating myself but I know I’m not alone!!!
