QOTD: We all love the show, Gary. Don’t change it.

  • First question of the day I feel compelled to answer. I love the show!

  • I’m green with envy! Sooo much wine, so many delicious bottles in that cellar! QOTD: The show must go on. I often think of the personal investment that you put forth into making WLTV, while to us is free, is daily entertainment, is knowledge, is part of our hobby, of our passion, and it only gets better and more interesting. Say.. THANKS!!!

QOTD: The thought of watching WLTV keeps me going till I can get home, crack a bottle and sit with you and the GV nation. I’ve said it before, you do a serious service to all of us, we love the show and appreciate all the work you put in, Thanks from the bottom of our wine glass.

  • Hey Gary,

It is great to see your dedication to the show and it is truely pure. You not doing it because you have to. You are doing it because you love it. Not to many people can say that about their jobs.

Watching your work on WLTV is inspiring. I’m in the process of building my sangria business and I watch your show more for your energy and passion then the wine itself.

Anyway, I hope you had a great trip and look forward to the special tailgate party show. Hope to speak to you at the wine tasting on Tuesday.

    Cheers,
    – Rick

We look forward to the show everyday it’s on. We’ve learned lots and it gives us a mission to find wines that you mention that we haven’t tried. We really appreciate you doing it!

    AND what ARE you holding?

I’ve only been drinking wine for a few months after thinking about it for years. Came to WLTV through the article in TIME just a couple of weeks after purchasing my first bottle. The guy at my wine shop has commented on how much I know compared to people who have been drinking wine for years, AND I OWE IT ALL TO GV! For example, I would not have known to taste an oaked and unoaked Chard back to back if I hadn’t learned about the Oak Monster on WLTV (I discovered the OM is NOT my friend!). There’s so much more that I’ve learned.
My wife doesn’t drink wine – doesn’t have the desire to acquire the taste. But she can’t help herself. She hears me watching the show and comes over to listen in and laugh along. Gary has become part of our family. Hey, I almost find myself pulling for the Jets just so he’ll be a happy camper.
Thank you, sir, for being the single most important factor in my growing education about and enjoyment of wine!

QOTD: Love the show. Changing the wine world…motivating me to try different wines. Keep it up…you are definitely making an impact and hope that you are having fun doing it. The tour of the store room was cool…and yes I am very jealous of the cases and cases of wine that you have at your disposal.

I love watching current and past episodes. It is great watching reviews of wines that I have tried and find that in many instances, I got it right. As with anything I have to trust my own taste and I don’t always agree with Gary’s observations just the same as I don’t always agree with the Wine Spectator or Wine Enthusiast, but they serve as good reference points. My wife and I are constantly trying new wines and try to find the best value in wines.

The very best thing about the Winelibrary video blog is that there is not a bit of wine snob in it anywhere. I love it that Gary presents everything in not just words, but passions that I can appreciate and understand.

Please keep these programs rolling out. Absolutly fantastic job and I wish I had the job.

  • A big fan of the show. That’s coming from someone who has never drank wine and never really intends to. I’m a big fan of food, and I think that the comparison between the two is great. Your love of wine is my love of food. It’s simply entertaining to watch. The show is hands down better than anything that Food Network plays.

QOTD–I was somewhat involved with inexpensive (under $20) wines, running tastings for friends for 8 years, learning all I could about wines, and even writing a little column for a freeby arts magazine. Hurricane Katrina changed all that, and now, two years later, you and your show are getting me excited about wine again. You have a good approach, and I enjoy your evaluations and even if I don’t agree with a number of them I can usually see why you have a good reason for them. I especially like guessing your evaluation # from the comments.

Sorry about the Jets — I lived in New Orleans for 15 years, so I can feel your pain. So, a Jets memory for you (not of a winning game, alas) — in 1976, my college’s marching band did the halftime show at a Jet’s home game. The flute players were thrilled when Namath sort of waved back at them.

Gary Gary Gary….. You have got it made man….Family, friends, health, fame, able to do just about what you want to and most of all you have something here with WLTV that you LOVE and you “do it well”, love doing it. Appreciate it as I know you do. It’s a part of you. Not many people in this world can honestly say they have all of this and those who do or at least have most of it don’t work hard enough or love it as much as we see you loving it “everyday” to keep it for long.

So with this all said, QOTD: I can’t think of anything I would rather do with 20 to 30 minetes a day 5 days a week 52 weeks a year 5200 minetes a year than to be a part of what you do and to see, live and be a part of this life you are so intence and in love with when it comes to wine. I have learned so much more about wine and most of all about family and friends by watching WLTV. I may never have everything you have but because of you and a little bit of me, I won’t be far behind. Don’t be scared………

  • QOTD – You are kidding, right! C’mon, GV… u just want to hear how great you are, right?! ;).
So, here I go. Man, you set new and the best possible standards on the democratization of the wine world. And it is not a tinny bit of you. I can only imagine about the effort and dedication that you are investing on this project. You are doing a very big bit to make this world more approachable. But do not let it get over your head. AFTER ALL “With great power comes great responsibility”.

Don’t loose your tracks and THANKS!!!
