    Enjoyed the show today.

QOTD: Attending my high school class reunion (dragging Carl with me) – and I’m not saying which one. Also, visiting one of our favorite wine shops for a weekly tasting.

Very surprised on the Franciscan. I thought the oak monster was coming. I had a few bottles a few years ago and remember a strong oak taste.
I agree on the Justin. It’s a wine I recommend, along with a Murphy Goode Cab. Both are nice wines to bring to a dinner party.

QTOD : Work, watch football, celebrate girlfriend’s parent’s 40th anniversary. In that order.

Celebrating includes drinking wine. Funny, I am bringing a case of wine and the Justin is one of the bottles in the box.

Thumbs up for Cali Cabs…Well, tomorrow I’ve to go do some work (removing the leafs, painting, etc…) at my daughter’s pre-school, as part of parents participation in this co-op school. Sunday, I’ll be chilling out and popping my first Beaujolais (I waited a lot to taste Beaujolais because of its reputation of being light and like pure fruit juice), Moulin-à-vent Château des Jacques Louis Jadot 2004…I hope it’ll be a an enjoyable experience…Cheers!

Wow!! Lots to comment on today.

    1. Chenin…get a life. If you don’t like it, skip it.

    2. Gary…please tell me you’re not serious about the book. After just recently finding this site, I would hate to think I stumbled upon it when it started turning into a cash maker rather than what it started out as in episode 1. Although I believe in capitalism and caching in when you can, I think this would be taking things a bit too far. Please don’t become another Fox Newscaster hocking books. Just 1 opinion.

    3. Amazing, I’ve seen all these wines recently so I know I’ll be able to get the Justin and Franciscan

    4. “An ant or two”????? Where’d that come from??

GARY, thanks for the Shout-out!! Much appreciated!!!

and….I DID invent Vayniac (it’s documented & verifiable).

QOTD: was supposed to be at Georgetown w/ CJ for Parents weekend, but Dede’s father (we call him DOC….Ian and Jim both know him well…..he’s the GREATEST!!) had a real scare on Tuesday and is still in the ICU. He actually dodged a bullet, but he’s coming along. So, CJ took the train home tonight. So great to see him. Anyway, we’ll all be down at Doylestown Hospital all weekend for the DOC!!!

QOTD: I hate to say it but I have a presentation and a test for one of my first classes in my masters program. But then I am heading to Dallas for a conference so maybe I can get some of that expense account wine Gary is always talking about. 😉

QOTD- working on the gutters, watching baseball, Packers vs Skins, and drinking some wine.

QOTD: Watching the California Cab show as I cannot get it to work tonight. Taking a long walk with a friend, out to breakfast, helping put cover on community pool, Sunday lunch with my mother, movie: Michael Clayton, nothing much else to do. Had to postpone my trip to Crushpad.

Good topic b/c my wife always says that I don’t buy enough California Cab. I just have had bad luck with some of the “everyday- under $15” Cali cabs. I will have to check these out.

  • QOTD: spending Saturday doing whatever my oldest son wants…its his 6th birthday. And he’s already asking to go to the local “Brewhouse & Restaurant”. A chip off the old block. Of course he wants to go ’cause of the big cookie pie they have for dessert.

And how fitting… His name is Justin too. Guess that’s a sign that I should look for that Justin Cab which fantastic

LURKER ALERT! Watched for two months and now it’s daily ‘must see web tv.’ Seriously. Love your passion, commitment and eloquent random flavor references. Just cracked a bottle of Justin Cabernet though which confirmed you and I have much different tastes in many ways. (Found it cherry cough syrupy.) BUT, I love the Oak Monster! So thank you … thank you for describing in detail what you DON’T like as well as what you do in the selections. Helps us with different palate’s come to our own conclusions based on your tremendous experience. Also, PLEASE keep the Jets predictions coming. I’ve won good money based on you keeping it real! My case of Boudreaux Cab is on its way after knocking you over. Thanks for doing what you do … well. From one tv guy to now another … you can’t hide who you are on camera. And you’re awesome!

Gotta say, I think the Hess Mount Veeder Cuvee is the best of the Hess collection of wines. The Allomi is also pretty good in that $20-25 range. Good call on the Justin and the Franciscan. This weekend, I’m on call on Saturday, golf on sunday.

Great style today in this. You seemed much more focused and on your game.

I enjoy Cali cabs and the Justin is my pick of this group. The Franciscan Tasting room in Napa also pours Mount Veeder winery wines. I much prefered the Mt Veeder. The Justin cab always seems to hold it’s own.

Enroute to Edna Valley to taste Pinot’s this weekend….!

    😉

you gave justin a 90 score, then Franciscan a 90+ review, but scored it lower than the Justin. I’m with you, Franciscan gets a bore score. You wouldn’t really score a wine lower because it has less sex appeal would you?

If it does’t rain, rock climbing in little cottonwood canyon or American Fork.

  • GV, how big is has your Thundercat collection become? I want to see piles!

QOTD: I’ll be studying for midterms this weekend, catching up on other homework, and trying to shake a bothersome cold. What are YOU doing this weekend, Mott?

Last year on a wine exibition I tried several Hess wines from the two Americas. They were not bad at all, pure fruit, but they were very 1-dimensional and each tasted very similar, Hessified if you want. Considering the price not a QPR but not over-priced either.
