  • QOTD: This weekend is going to be an exciting mix of work and finishing a short story for a writing class at school. At least I’m going to dinner with my girlfriend tonight (Oh, and we will probably end up wine shopping too).

  • QOTD: My fiance just got all of his wisdom teeth removed so I will be playing nurse and making sure he is comfortable and taken care of. I just bought a nice cast iron dutch oven so I might make some soup as well.

I have had the 04 Franciscan but the 02 and 01 are better. 03 was not very good.
Haven’t tried the Justin as yet.
QOTD: Club Championship golf tournament and NC “pig picking” barbecue on Sunday.

No laid back Friday today? That’s cool. I’m cycling for sure, probably hanging with a buddy for some stogies, and watching some football (go Giants!). Enjoy your weekend.

  • This weekend – not watching baseball. No motivation, considering…

Cooking holiday pastries and cookies in advance to freeze.

Thanks for the Cali ep. I give Franciscan a little higher score than you did. Could be bottle variance.

This weekend…Wine tasting for a charity event on Saturday.

Up to my elbows in Vanyiac grapes on Sunday. Sorting the new harvest and punching down what was crushed on Wednesday is my guess. Stu said there would be video for the Vayner Nation.

    Ciao

I see what you mean, I just had a bottle of the Clos Du Val And I would have rated it at least 90 pts. I will try the Justin Sunday as I will be in Paso Robles Sunday and see what I think

Thanks again, GV, for all you do.

QOTD: Nothing special planned. But my wine group is tasting cabs next week so maybe I’ll go try to hunt down the Justin. Oh, and I have to finish my Italian homework–Mi piace vino rosso.

OBTW: Episode 324 is broken and has been for quite awhile. I can’t find a way to contact “support” but it would be nice if it could be fixed. I’d love to see it.

Way to put out the info, I learn something new each time I watch. QOTD: reffing premier matches in the big city (Tucson). Home Sunday to catch up on reading….

  • Craig MacDonald

Good ep. I’ll look for the Justin next time I’m in the local shop.
QOTD: Tomorrow morning I’m getting on the motorcycle for a ride up into the hills, maybe to Sedona where I’ll find a one-off breakfast joint and work on my current writing project. Then spend the rest of my day with the family. Does it get any better?

  • Nice to see cali cabs being put through the paces, have to agree tried the clos du val cab about 6 months ago (cant remember the vintage and am not gonna break out my tasting notes..) and remember being not too impressed. Shame, considering the product placement it gets in Weeds. (great show everyone should at least check out.)

QOTD: Sat night, working (as is the norm) and getting people to part with cold hard cash for some good wine. After work a few beers until stupid’o’clock in the morning, hopefully celebrating England spanking the French in the world cup. Sunday, meeting up with a crew of around 12 of us for a late sunday lunch and off to watch S.Africa vs Argentina in the evening.

Need some advice guys (maybe this should be in the forums??) was thinking of putting the Francis Ford Coppola Claret on the list. Found it quiet thin and light with not much structure. Will sell just on the name though but heard you can pick it up in a gas station in the U S of A for like $5, this true and anyone else tried it?

    Cheers in advance

  • First. The one-last-thing vid stalls on me just like ryptide commented. I’ve checked it about a dozen times, every day since it’s been posted…..always stalling….

QOTD: I’m having a wine tasting party tomorrow. Braising some beef shin and plate to go with the wines. You know, the usual.

Love Justin – I’ve never been disappointed by their juice.

Of note, seek out “The Orphan” label from Justin, a lower priced bottle of “grapes that were just not quite right” for signature bottles like “Isosceles,” but darned tasty stuff nonetheless! It’s like getting a $40-$60 cab for under twenty bones, and you just can’t beat that.

I’m getting greedy. Where the hell were you yesterday? I was here at least four times yesterday but, alas, was only met with yesterday’s news, episode 331. You’d think you were doing these for free 🙂

QOTD: Saturday night I’m catering a birthday dinner for 12. Sunday, absolutely NOTHING!

    Enjoyed the show today.

QOTD: Attending my high school class reunion (dragging Carl with me) – and I’m not saying which one. Also, visiting one of our favorite wine shops for a weekly tasting.
