QOTD: good idea on the 15 second intro…

I love the start of the Thunder Show, but a short intro could be nice too. Perhaps a sweet beat by the legendary Ronald Jenkees (check out youtube, http://youtube.com/watch?v=fuzXUv48geU). He did the intro to the Bill Simmons ESPN podcast and it fires me up every time.

qotd: who cares. you have done much more annoying things besides your intro. with all the amazing substance you bring for free, i can tolerate weird glasses, exuberant intros, cutesy phrases like sniffy sniff, the abundance of “linking it up”, and bad hair days. Your honesty, sincerity, and passion outweigh those things every day, and if people dont see that after a few eps who needs em.

No. Your intro is just fine. I like the character you portray on your show, whether real or not. I really am not interested in seeing clips from others.

What should you do? Well first you and Lizzy need to get busy and have many more beautiful daughters. Secondly, don’t worry about people who don’t like your style, we who watch do.If you were like Sir Gary I would stop watching…….well maybe not,who else talks about wine for 20 min. 4 or 5 days a week?

I think the intro comes off phoney or fake. That’s probably why they like the rest of the show once they see it being that it is very real and genuine.

But hey, I watch everyday so who am I to say.

Haha, I love your intro. But I do have to turn the volume down for a few seconds so as not to wake up anyone sleeping in the next room.

I have to Agree with “GrapeStuff” I like the Diggnation intro and I think you doing something like that would be rather cool. A nice opening would be a good idea period, I think it would help with cutting back the amount of people who watch you get all excited in the beginning and turn away from the show.

QOTD: I have to say that I would love to see some video clips to open up the show…but I don’t think that many of the Vaner-nation will really submit. I certainly would if I had the ability to make videos…As for your enthusiastic start to the program…I say keep the program real to yourself…you are the one, day in, day out that brings us WLTV. If people don’t like it they can go watch (and pay) videos from Wine Spectator…

QOTD: you gotta be you. if you like doing what you are doing, keep it that way. If you want to just introduce yourself without the hyphens, do that. We love you for your energy, enthusiasm and your insights into wine.

Glad to see you not willing to sacrifice the opening– I don’t know if you can really warn about the beginning without taking away from its energy. I’d vote just leave it, the hype will carry you threw.

Also, what up Thug Wine Tasting. Keep the hood, throw on a backwards cap, and do a 40 tasting, next April 1. That’s -really- keep the kids comin’ back.

Interesting episode. I generally skip the intro — I do dislike it — and go to the meat. Sorry to hear that the ‘intro’ is you, really you. Oh well. And I know you have to play to the ‘Under 25’ viewers. So be yourself and make the zits happy.

QOTD: Don’t change to appease people who don’t like you. I just heard Paul Novak talk about how he’s developing the Pelton House and Kinton brands, and he said that it’s better to have a brand that 10% of the people out there hate because then you’re more likely to have the 10% at the opposite end of the spectrum really like your brand. Also, think about Curb Your Etnthusiasm or Howard Stern. Eveyone thinks Larry David is neurotic, but lots of people still watch his show just to see what he’s going to do next…

I think that the intro is fine. It’s a little over the top, but, hey, Sir Gary is your arch-enemy, right? Mix in some Vayniac material from time to time? Sure. Maybe you can get Hank Junior to do a little “are you ready for some football, er, wine?” I do have to check my volume level when the show kicks off cuz sometimes it scares the crap out of me.

I enjoyed the funky, weird energy you had going today GV….good times.

QOTD-I wouldn’t change too much. It’s solid, it works, minor tweaking only if that is what it takes to keep you going.

QOTD: What is your deal???? Take a look years and years ago when Jay Leno and or Johnny Carson first started out and then look at the end of Carson’s career and then maybe turn the tonight show on this evening when you get home and take a good long look….THEY NEVER CHANGED WHAT THEY DID FROM THE FIRST SHOW….. and they continued to do what worked and felt good for them. So with all that said, KEEP DOING WHAT YOUR DOING………I really think most people go by their first impressions and if they don’t like you then they don’t like you. Just remember, there is a lot of us that do like you and you have done more for the wine world than anyone I have ever heard of before. I too think that some temporary videos for 15 to 30 seconds or so might be nice once in a while at the beginning of an episode but keep doing what YOU DO, DON’T CHANGE………Maybe start the show off with a headliner such as, “COULD YOUR VIDEO BE TODAYS SHOW THAT WINS YOU FREE SHIPPING FOR A DAY”. I would watch that episode just to see what it’s all about. Your great GV, if you’ve got to change something please don’t change much.
