When I have access, Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods (in either CT or NY where they don’t sell wine).

I live in Seattle and do my shopping at Trader Joe’s, QFC, and farmers markets. I’m a little sad my local farmers market just closed down for the winter, but Pike Place is open all year round (We just celebrated it’s centennial). Interesting episode; I dug it!

Geez, Gary, that was interesting in the negative sense. Actually, I sort of enjoyed watching you strike out – just like your JETS against my BROWNS yesterday afternoon!!

QOTD: We shop for food at the local grocery store chain, Giant Eagle. But we also shop at Trader Joe’s for some items and we get meat at Cleveland’s West Side Market, which is awesome.

Dear, dear, gary, it took me almost a week to get thru this vedio, just can not make the connection, while I am enjoying any other episode…Whatever, I finally know what gary will shop for himself. That is great~ And, try everything, I do agree. Thank you, man, and that is it.

Regarding relying on scores when buying wine – how else are we supposed to differentiate? There are so many options, and you have no idea by looking at the region, varietal, producer, vintage, label, etc. how good the wine is inside the bottle. Having at least one expert give a thumbs up is the best lead most of us have when deciding what to buy. Sure, over time we learn and we can make more independent decisions. However, for most of us, relying on ratings is an entirely rational thing to do.

Gary, I challenge you to a game of paper football. Can you make a 25 foot field goal? I can, promise.

Ouch 0-3. We all have to have those days, I guess. QOTD: Whole Foods. I just find the food ( esp meats and vegetables )to be a better quality. I know its more expensive at times but so worth it.

ooo 0 for 3 is tough. I like the way you look at it though.

QOTD: Cub Foods. They are all over the place in MN. I think I might get some meat from a sustainable farm this year, maybe a CSA with SunShineHarvest. We are definitely doing a food garden this year, so soon my own backyard.

I dunno know, GV: I’m really wanting to try the Nora Alberino now, based on the “sniffy sniff” alone!

QOTD: Wegmans. I love Wegmans. Price gouging and all- quality can't be beat.

Can't believe I'm just discovering this episode now, and all because I was searching for Carmenere.

Came upon this show cuz I wanted to learn more about Albarino. I discovered Caremnere by complete accident about 1 year ago at a discount grocery store in California. It was a Cab/Carmenere blend by Veranda (2004 Vintage). I enjoyed it right away (although a bit softer than I normally drink), and I especially enjoyed it at the price I paid for it ($4.99!!!)
BTW… I loved the intro to this show… I got to see a liyyle bit of the shop, which was cool.
QOTD: I buy my wine (not so much my food) from a grocery store chain called Grocery Outlet. Their hopme office is somewhere in Northern California, so they get some great deals on bscure, or close out lots of some really good juice!!
