I'm open to wines in a box, although I feel dubious about them and have never bought one and don't have any plans to. I'm definitely not into wines in a can however, I know Coppola's even doing one of those. I tasted a cuvee de pena rose in a bottle, it wasn't awful for the $2 or 3.99 it cost wholesale.

Best and worst steak you say. This is gonna be a weird response but I am going to have to say Logan’s Steakhouse for both.

The first time I ate there the steak I had was a disgusting abomination. It must have came from roadkill. It wasn’t cooked the way I ordered, fatty as the first kid knocked out in a dodge ball game and just all around unappetizing.

My friend took me there again this past week (against my wishes I might add) and I ordered the fillet. Holy faith being restored in this place. It was one of the most melt in your mouth steaks I ever ate. I could have eaten 5 of then. If you do check it out go with the roasted veggie skewers. Trust me you won’t be disappointed.

  • Hope it’s not too late to get in on the contest. I usually watch every day, but I got behind a few days following the birth of my daughter on the 10th!

QOTD: Best steak was filet made on the grill and shared with our neighbors. Worst steak was probably some tough, overcooked piece of beef served to me with A-1 sauce when I was a kid.

QOTD: The best steak is my own flank steak that has been marinated in red wine, red wine vinegar, seedy mustard, soy, worcestersire sauce, and basil for 12 hours and cooked over medium heat on the grill. The worst steak has to be the Golden Corral’s prime rib. I don’t really think it’s even real meat.

QOTD… Best steak in the Precinct in Cincinnati, Filet Mignon, medium-rare. That’s what being a carnivore is all about. It’s not like a hunk of meat or piece o animal. It’s more like a protein pie with perfect texture and flavor. Worst, was actually a bargain grocery store steak fried in a pan – I will never ever try that again – my kids would not eat more than a teaspoon, my wife soldiering on, and only triple the amount of ketch-up made it edible enough. (Did not want to throw away, the poor beast.)

Xmas pack is great plan. Did I hear you’ll do a separate New Year’s Eve pack?

    Cheers & prosit.

The best steak I’ve had was a 2 inch thick 45 day dry aged prime boneless rib-eye grilled to medium-rare at a friends place. It cut like butter and was absolutely delicious.

The worst steak, there’s been a few but recently it was a grass fed strip. It had decent flavor but horrible texture. It was tough and chewy even though it was cooked rare or medium-rare.

  • QOTD: This is a tossup. Either “The Butcher Shop” in Dallas, where they let you pick out your own cut and even grill it yourself on the open pit. OR, a medium-rare Filet Mignon at the Graystone in San Diego’s Gaslamp district. I went down the street and bought a Caymus Cab and a Jayson meritage, and they were fantastic with that steak.

  • ALAS! I lurk no more. I’ve been meaning to leave a comment and finally it has arriveed. The best steak ive ever had was a ridiculously delicious KOBE ribeye @ Normans’ @ the Ritz Carlton in Orlando, FL. WOW, i can still taste the juicy perfection and thee crispy garlic and herb basted crust… I need to slow down a minute. Worst steak ever was a chewey, rubbery piece of churrasco from good ‘ol sams club. Grat for T.P. not for meat. Either way Gary, LOVE the the show! Im a rookie vayniac, but my cherry is now broken. Keep up the good work!

Best: Kansas City Cut at The Chicago Chop House with a nice cali cab (don’t remember what). They may have cheesy tommy guns on the wall, but boy can they do a good steak.

Worst: George’s Steak House Glyfada, Greece. You just cant find good beef in Europe

    – Best steak, someplace in Texas, near Houston. Can’t remember the name but it was a chain steak-house.
    – Worst steak, most anywhere in the UK.

Box wine ep? I’m a bit of a snob here, well, more like I’m too scared to take a chance!

Gee, Gary, if the question was “Can boxed wine be GOOD, so far the answer is “not usually”. That’s disappointing.

QOTD: (Yes, WAY too late for the drawing but I’m still behind)
Best steak ever: beef filet, medium rare, at Hyde Park in Cleveland, OH.
Worst steak ever: regrettably, anything my dear departed Mom made because it was always reduced to shoe leather from being too well done. ๐Ÿ™

But I still love you and miss you, Mom!
