  • NO go to wines ! just go to bottles.

    Gary,

Great info on the “non-vintage” reds. I knew that sparkling wines did this, but didn’t know that reds did. This explains a lot. Red Truck does this as well and is widely popular. Thanks for the insight.

My most common wine nowadays… 2005 Agustinos Winemaker’s Selection Cabernet/Carmenere (Chile). Nothing spectacular and probably falls under the over oaked category, but interesting pepper and dark fruit despite the powerful vanilla. Smooth, full bodied and the best wine for under $20 in Seoul, though the selection here leaves something (a lot) to be desired.

  • QOTD: My everyday wine right now has been affordable (under $30) Napa and Washington Cabs. I dedicated December as “Give Merlot another Chance Month”, it was kind of fun with more than a few winners in the bunch. Tonight I actually opened an $8.00 bottle of Francis Coppola’s 2005 “Rosso” which is one of the better sub $10 fruitgazims I’ve had in a while.

  • QOTD: No specific “go-to” wine right now. I guess in general I’d say I’m apt to choose a Zinfandel or an Australian shiraz if I’m shopping… but really, I’ve been unpredictable with my choices lately.

  • QOTD: My everyday wines lately are Spanish reds (monastrell, garnacha, and/or tempranillo) and Cote du Rhone wines. Normally I’d pick up CdP or those Bordeaux merlots I love so much but, well, I’m trying to drink less of that stuff than wines from other places this year.

Hmm… after watching this episode, I have an urge to play the original Legend of Zelda. Ah, the memories.
