Gary, thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything that you do for us. This show is absolutely amazing to me. I am definitely a wine geek and learning about wine and discovering new wines is truly a passion of mine. My wife and I now are thinking about taking more “wine trips” in the near future, and wine is something that we enjoy together. I cannot express how grateful I am for you and your crew (Mott!). Thanks in part to you, I am starting my own wine tastings with close friends of mine, and spreading the passion that you help fuel. You are truly radool.

Wow, the hot girl dorm room comment was an instant for me…bingo, took me back. memories.

    Awesome #384.

QOTD: Volunteered my time to help translate for doctors, giving free medical attention to poor areas around San Felipe, MX. Then some ‘doctors’ tried to sneak me into bars, as I was the only underage one on the trip…guess 14 was not the new 18 back then. Great feeling that day, not the night, but the day.

Thanks again GV for your work/fun time. I guess you cannot call it work if you enjoy doing it.

    You want dry…
I just watched a Wine Spectator Podcast, “WS: Inside Wine Spectator’s Tasting Department”

    That was obnoxiously dry.

    GV, thanks a trillion

What terrific news; in honour of your decision, I’m going to send you my own copy of the wine book I promised you earlier รข?? I’ll find another later…

I second the advice Pamela offered for continuing the show, as well as her sentiments about the show.

QOTD A couple of years ago I’d have mentioned the volunteering I’ve committed to since retiring. Very satisfying, but perhaps growing a little routine now. So, taking a longer view back, I’d say the greatest thing I remember is the last-minute chance to join a couple of other friends in a ski trip to Whistler/Blackcomb for a week. Face-wide smiles all week. Up to Seventh Heaven every day. Talk about a natural high!! Great camaraderie, good wine, good eats (I’m no cook, but was happy to be dishwasher).

Gary. I’ve been a lurker for a few months now and was ready to throw my laptop against the wall when I heard you considering ending the show. Now I’m glad I didn’t, because I wouldn’t have been able to watch this episode! I really appreciate what you do and all the work mott and everyone else does.

QOTD: going on a nationwide tour with a Drum and Bugle Corps.

  • Hi Gary

It’s great that you’re staying … watching WLTV really has become a part of my everyday life – something I do after making morning coffee and before heading to work.

    QOTD: Becoming a teacher

QotD: Years ago, after not seeing them for years, I hooked up with some old friends, and it was like not a single day had passed. They’ll never know how grateful I am.

GV, great news! Glad the Thundershow will live on…suggestion if WLTV gets to be too much ever think about only doing one or two shows a week to “lessen” the load? You can broadcast Tuesday and Fridays or something like that.

Happy you will still do it, but don’t want you to burn out either…

Thanks again for all your hard work,
    Mike McKenna

  • Get in!! The thunder rolls on

QOTD: Outside of family, was playing rugby for the South of England team many moons ago. Ruined my sholder in that game so havn’t played since. Bit of a double edged sword but can’t complain how my life have turned out since.

Looking forward to many more episodes

    Thank you sir.

Qotd: the time I spent in the Corps of Cadets @ Texas A&M. Wasn’t easy, but as you indicated, the best things usually aren’t the easy ones.

Such a good episode, I just had to leave another comment. I love those Big Italian Reds with powerful tannins. Can’t wait to try this wine. Thanks Gary. Good call.

Wow….miss a couple episodes and the sky starts falling! Gary you have the most energy of anyone I think I have ever seen……a lot of passion for what you do….I can see how someone could get burned out doing it 5 times a week….and need something new to keep that spark going….however, we would all be at a loss for a daily glass of wine mania…very selfish…I know…Glad to hear you are going to keep at it….maybe cut back…I know I could understand that! Great episode today….a new wine I have never tried and will now seek out! Thanks! ๐Ÿ™‚

Gary we are really glad to hear that the show will go on. Also wanted to say I loved the Leocadie Fernand Averoux 2006 from the last show, bought a bottle on Saturday and opened the bottle Sunday afternoon. Great recommendation.

    Continue the good work Gary..

Gary, absolutely love the show and consider you to be a part of my family too! Thanks so very much for the show. It’s 20 minutes that I look forward to each and every day.

QOTD: Greatest non-family involved thing I’ve ever done was a Mpls->Chicago AIDSRide. The unconditional love I felt from everyone involved – riders, crew, and residents of the host towns was humbling to say the least. One of the best weeks of my life.

  • Gary – Outstanding episode on Sagrantino di Montefalco. I am a lover of these wines and will be in Montefalco for the Settimana Enologica festival in late September – for the release of the 2005 vintage. Go to my website for more info on Sagrantino, Montefalco and the Villa Pambuffetti… where you MUST stay if you ever visit Montefalco. By the way, the 1998’s are just now settling down and smoothing out. Try Sagrantino Montefalco with Picorino cheese and apricot jam. Fabulous.
I couldn’t be happier that you made the decision to keep on keeping on! Send a reply and I will send you a pdf off my article on Sagrantino Montefalco.

Don’t go anywhere Gary, what little I know about this wine stuff I learned from you, and I’m not done yet!

Gee….Super News that the Thunder Show continues, but on the otherhand,
You got to think about Yourself & Family! If you got to cut back on
the number of episodes per week, we understand. You’re a busy Guy and
we sure don’t want You to burn-out. Maybe do one or two episodes a week,
    tapeing them and such.

Just found your website for the first time. Was googling info about Kris Curran leaving SeaSmoke. When I ran across your 05 SeaSmoke tasting show. Fun Stuff. I will check back from time to time. Kris Curran to Foley Vineyards! Was never impressed with there wines. Isnt it owned now by the Monster buying up wineries in that area? Hopefully she makes an improvment there. Nicest lady you ever wanna drink with.
