  • I don’t know if this makes any sense, but although I thought you were serious about ending the show, I ALSO knew, really knew, you would change your mind. I’ve been watching since Alex and Kevin first mentioned you on Diggnation, and I’m just now turning 21, so you have been like my wine mentor, leading me into the wonderful world of wine and starting this new hobby off the RIGHT way and showing me how to be friends with my palette and follow it where ever it leads me. Keep it up, Gary V, keep dropping the knowledge and bringing the thunder and we will take care of the love.

  • Wow, an unfamiliar Italian varietal?

Thanks for sharing, thanks for doing the show, and thanks for continuing to do so!

    Forgot about the QOTD:

Every year for about the past 13 years (ironic I know) I volunteer at a Haunted House. Never get paid and do it just cuz it’s my nature to help people out. That might be a lame answer but it is the best I can do right now haha

  • Taylor

Great show unfortunately I haven’t had a Sagrantino, but ever today would be willing splurge and buy one.
QOTD Every year all my friends from school and I pick a weekend go skiing and meet up it’s so nice to see everyone and where they’re at and how their family is.

WLTV is one of my guiltiest pleasures even if I have no time for anything, if I see a new episode I’ll stop what I am doing and sit down the 20 minutes and watch glued to the screen I LOVE IT!!

  • MB Dallas

Thrilled to hear you’re sticking with the show! Great news. (Thanks for the shout out!)

QOTD: Best thing outside of family? Really the friends I’ve made. Many great trips & memories.

Looking forward to Episode 400 & beyond!

  • QOTD â?? My bachelor party was the most fun I have had, not withstanding family stuff!

Flew out of Vancouver to London and met a good buddy who was getting his masters degree at the London School of Economics. Took the train up to St Andrewâ??s and spent five days playing golf in the morning, napping in the afternoon and then partying with the locals at night. I got the opportunity to play the Old Course on our last day. All I wanted to do was shoot under 100 for the day and I got my wish coming in with a 98.

It was one of those trips that you can tell your grandchildren about.

The memory of it still makes me smile, even six years later.

Going skydiving was one of the best experiences I have ever had.

    Gary,

Thanks for sticking around. The wine world would not be the same without GV

(No more midlife crisis’ for you until at least episode #500)

Sagrantino, eh? Hm, going to have to “seek it out.”

The funny thing about the SF Chron article is that when I introduce people to this show, I always say how much I’m learning and that Gary just makes me happy. Dunno why, I could be having a crappy, poopy day…log on and I have a smile on my face. 🙂

I know that this show takes a lot of energy and time to produce. I’m grateful and appreciate the time it takes to do this show. I think a once a week show would be just as great! Something to consider.

Sagrantino is fantastic! Italy is so much more than Chianti!

  • Kinglurker

First of all thank you gary… Yeah when break up with us without a good reason. No reason to quit a good thing. Everything in moderation

QOTD: Building a house is the most gradifying thing a person can do. Giving shelter to someone 🙂

Thank you thank you once again.. Do an episode on you daily life??…. maybe?

  • */^_^*

    you’re still a tease tho

qotd: i’ve never accomplished anything great without my family

    Hey Gary,

Very glad you are continuing to bring on the thunder!! I just watched that episode where Ian Dorin said he would be the new host of WLTV. I almost wanted to stop the video, not that he isn’t a good but, but he didn’t bring on the thunder like you do. Like a lot of people I didn’t think you would end the show, but maybe pass it on to someone else. Needless to say, I’m happy you are staying on and look forward to WLTV for episodes to come!!!

wow, big show today. will need to try some Sangrantino.

As for the QOTD, very tuff and really not sure. Depends on how one looks at things. Possibly could be becoming a doctor; but will need to think about it some more.

good to have you back at least for a while!

    Hi Gary,

Thank you so much for all your hard work. I have learned so much since I started watching your show a couple months ago – I get so excited now when I drink wine now!

QOTD: Traveling to Medjugorje, Croatia where I figured out what I wanted to do with my life.

Very cool! You know, you’re at the point where you could do “The Best Of The Thunder Show” anytime you need a break! Thanks man, QOTD: I spent 3 weeks in Costa Rica exploring and hanging out, great times.

I can’t believe you were serious Gary! I figuared you were messing with us like you did at episode 200 and 300. Great to know your sticking around. I would have been VERY upset the last couple of days if I knew you were serious QOTD: Heading up to the NJ (from TX) for grad school. I hate the weather and will move back when I’m done but am SO happy to have the experience.

  • JoshL

Ahhhh…the emotional roller coaster I’ve been through this week (not all from the alleged termination of the show)…now I get to relax and feel good about life again…good thing I caught the episode to hear the good news before I went out to enjoy this Friday! Sagrantino Di Montefalco…I’ll definitely have to add it to my “to do” list, thanks for the info as always.
QOTD: As much as I bitch and moan about it when I’m there, my work is the most non-family related, yet worthwhile activity that I do. I’m part of an operation that manufactures vaccines for the entire country and some foreign countries as well..every kid that grows up without having to suffer from measles, mumps, rubella, chickenpox, etc. is what makes me proud of what I do.

  • Yippidy-Doo I am glad you’re sticking around…there is no show without you, I have never meet anyone with as much enthusiasm. There is no one who could fill those shoes.

QOTD: What is the best non-family thing? That would have to be losing my…there I go again not being able to finish my thought, but it is the truth.

Wow, thanks for introducing us to Sagrantino. I’ve seen it but have never tried it. I’ll seek out a bottle for sure.

QOTD: 15 middle-aged men trekking up to Northstar, renting 3 to 4 houses, riding mountain bikes by day and drinking beer, vodka and wine by night. Always, a huge wine tasting event on night two. Comradery, excercise, superb food and wine, poker, darts, golf and fresh air. I think this will be the 9th year this summer, but each year I’m left with fewer brain cells so it could be the 10th.

  • I didn’t actually think you were serious about “7 episodes left…” figured you were just playing with us like you like to do, but it sounds like you were pondering it! That would have totally sucked. This show is actually a big part of why I’ve gotten SO into wine in the last two years. Of course maybe I should curse you for that, because when I look at the percent of my income I spend on wine it’s STOOPID. BUT… it is a choice I’m comfortable with because the wine has truly enhanced my life. I still love ya, and glad to see you will continue… but you have added some doubt to my mind that it will last as long as I had originally been thinking (i.e. indefinitely)… hope you stick to it!

I have not had a Sagrantino, but from the sound of it I’d totally love it… I do love old school Italian wine (I think something like 45% of my cellar is Italian!), including Brunello… honestly the way you’re describing these things I wonder if they’re similar to Aglianico? I have some Fattoria Galardi Terra di Lavoro, and I’m thinking this Paolo Bea may be in that kind of league. I will definitely have to check some out! My local shops don’t have a good selection, though… you should offer the 2003 Martinelli Sagrantino Di Montefalco on free shipping on Monday! I love how your free.WL offering today was what you tasted yesterday. I bought four! Do it again!

QOTD: Omm… that depends on what you mean. I guess philosophically, it’d be when I decided (and it is a decision) to truly be happy, and take responsibility for my actions, and realize that what I have and archive in this world is up to ME and no one else. The slogan I live by: Those who truly want something find a way; those who don’t find an excuse.

QOTD: The greatest non-family related thing i have ever taken part in was the 2007 Aids Life Cycle ride. We rode our bicycles 576 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles over the course of a week and raised ALOT of money for an INCREDIBLE cause (13 million bones!)

incredible to see that we still get to share our time with you everyday… hopefully for a long tim to come.

Okay, it may not be the best non-family experience of my life, but it certainly, but I finally got a chance to roll on down to the wine lib after a long day at work today, and it sure was the greatest thing I’ve done this week!

I also, btw, believe that it was me, with only a little bit of GV, that convinced him to keep going — nah…

I’m hugely excited that the show is going to continue. Something was telling me that you didn’t seem .. well .. done with it yet.
