OMG! Just had the 04 Delas Herimtage Bessard last night, I have to say that it’s the most balanced and well made wine I’ve ever tasted. The balance is crazy and combined with a ton of subtle lovely nuances it makes it almost worth the price tag ($110 is still quite above my normal range).

    I agree 100% about Hermitage. I recently had the opportunity to try the 2000 Delas Tourette at a practically giveaway price, and it blew me away. That wine joined a very short list of things I have been priveledged to try that really changed the way I look at wine. I guess you could say that it changed my life, but non-winos always look at me funny when I say that. It had such fascinating notes of bell peppers and smoked meats. I, too, would drink Hermitage over Bordeaux, all things being equal.

    Great show again! one of this show’s biggest strengths is suggestion of value driven wines; however, it’s definitely worthwhile to get a taste of that “gourmet sh!t” as Samuel L Jackson referred to the coffee he was drinking at Tarantino’s house in Pulp Fiction. Hermitage is definitely on my “to do” list, but that won’t come to fruition until my next promotion…hopefully in 12 months….

    That was a madman episode! Great job. Do you sleep? 24-7 365 up in that dome piece must be one heck of a ride; I know it would wear me OUT. I’m tired of all the lurkiness too, It’s great that you’re sticking around. I used to watch that old show “Kate and Allie” hardcore when I was like 5…they became like my mothers. The feeling I had when they went off the air…it was just like “what now?” Don’t put me through that again. Thanks for the super pumped show!!!
