  • I kissed my dogs, mean ass pitbull puppies Noah and Tucker (actually adopted mutts from the pound) I saw your piece on Beet.tv had to check you out love the show.

  • Hugged a good friend of mine, who’s like a sister to me.

    QOTD: CastellRoig Xarel-lo 2006:
NOSE: Good fruit, slight gewurz quality, warm stones, some yeast (the winemaker said they ferment for 6 months), some ripe pear, slight apricot.
PALATE: Clean, crisp, slightly sweet, but with excellent balancing acidity. Light body, nervoux acidity. Focused. Clean, fresh lemon finish. Long. $16

Beloved spouse is TDY in DC freezing his hoohah off but will be back in AZ in time for Valentine’s Day.
QOTD: I’m enjoying lots of Albarino lately.

  • t_moderne

My new favorite white wine is California Chardonnay. That’s right. It is new. So many styles now and some folks are making some outstanding wines (Aubert; Kistler; need I say more?).
also Oregon pinot gris can be quite delicious.

    Called my mom in California.

QOTD: The only white I have found interesting was a “J” Chardoney. Not a new wine, but an old one hard to find. I like the “Red Wine Drinkers” whites.

  • Unfortunatly white wines are not as healthy as red wines. Red wines have much more resveratrol. Later. Teddy

    GV, Amazing episode.

I had a question about whites which I tend to drink more due to reds making me slightly tired. I enjoy the taste and aromas of whites that have pear, peach, and lemon characteristic much more so than the sour apple profile (though I do like the occasional granny smith– i.e. Black Pig Albarino). Are these profiles limited to certain grapes or is somewhat of a crap-shoot as to different regions, vintages, etc.?

QOTD: I had an amazing Riesling from the Wolf River Valey or something the other day. I forgot to get the name, but I’ll go to the store and find out.

I am a distributor for you, which probably disqualifies me from…I don’t know. Perhaps from everything. So. Anyway. My wife is the most amazingly kind and entertaining person–all the more amazing considering the kind of jerk she lives with. AND (here it is) Peter Schandl Pinot Blanc (that Ian tasted today) has, by far, been my most favorite white over the last six months or so (as you know, if you are tasting all the time, favorites don’t last).
    Ciao, Gary!

DOTD: Sent 4 e-mails, 2 phone calls and one in person to the love of my life.

QOTD: I still drink 4 to 1 red as I can’t settle on a white. I started with Pinot Gris, went to Gewurz and Riesling. Lately I have been trying Sauv Blancs but have to say that Viognier is intriguing me the most right now. Am really excited to start seeking out Pinot Noir/Viognier blends that you have mentioned recently.

  • DOTD: Its too late to call, so emailed my wife. I’m out of town now, but will be back for Valentine’s Day.

QOTD: torrontes, the el-cheapo Alamos that you recommended, and one by Colome… I also am liking viogners lately. I am hosting a Texas-themed party in a couple of weeks, so picked up a couple of Becker Viogners, decent and decent value at $13.

QOTD – New favorite White wine is Pera-Manca, but the lure of Red wines is that they are better for your heart. As almost every male in my family, father uncles, cousins, my age or older has had a fatal heart attack, I am not giving-up my preference for reds. A close family friend, who would only drink white wine, changed his preference after his first heart attack.

HUGS – hugs and kisses go to my wife, always.

  • QOTD: The latest white wine that I have tried is the New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc Mahi. I really enjoyed this wine considering I am not a huge white wine drinker.

I just gave my wife and my son a kiss goodnight. I also had a wonderful dinner with my parents tonight, a great family experience. I know what you mean about family being key to you. My life also revolves around my family in so many ways.

    QOTD: CHASING VENUS SAUVIGNON BLANC!

I emailed my friend, told him I love him…
I often tell those I love, that I love them. I wear my emotions… but I think this is a good thing!
    🙂

Gary, youre spreading Love AND The Thunder!

I’ve dropped over 200 bones in the last couple of weeks looking to find a Sauv Blanc (tried, Argy, Chile, NZ) I might like. I’m about to give it a pass, but will try a Babich as last chance. In the meantime, I picked up a Sicilian Grillo (Feudo d’Elimi ’08) on impulse last week, tried it on the weekend, and EUREKA, a new white that I now will look for more of, along with my trusty Rieslings. Most of the Pinot Gris, and the Torrontes I find passable but “meh”, and the Chards and Gewurtz’s offend my pal. Have yet to find an albarino, though, so I’ll keep looking and hoping. That and the Torrontes I had never heard of b4 WLTV, and the Grillo was completely out of the blue.

My wife is pretty anti P(ublic)DA, and only lukewarm about P(rivate)DA, except with the grandkids, but I do my best. My Dad (90) phoned tonight with the wonderful news he’s moving from the Wet Coast to a condo in the town next to us. Gave him all our love, too.

Leaving the love behind a bit, find a new annoyance in repeated last 3 or 4 messages when moving through the pages. Can something be done about that?
