I have to throw this out, there is a vineyard near my home in CT, Stonington Vineyards, that makes decent wine. Not fantastic, but decent. Unfortunately, as is common with most small vineyards outside major wine areas, the wines are also priced more toward $20, which makes the decent wines have a generally bad QPR. However, they make a Cab Franc that I really enjoy. I missed out on the recent vintage which bummed me out.

Bring on the Loire valley tv. I love the whites and the reds for value, complexity,and surpise flavors.

QOTD: Yes, if I can find one local by this weekend. Sacramento is so… [blankity blank blank] tainted by Napa and California Central Valley wines. It’s slim pickin’s to find wines made west of Nevada.

I have tried the Chinon and it was interesting to say the least. If you are used to drinking fruit bombs this will shock your palate

I love Cab Franc’s and specifically ones from the Loire.
I am probably going to try some Long Island ones this week.

QOTD: Dude you are preaching to the require. Loire reds (and whites) are regular weekday wines for me. The only other region in France that brings that kind of value is Lanquedoc/Roussillon. Let people keep drinking supermarket junk from Australia and Cali. Keeps prices down where the real action is.

QOTD: Unfortunately, the local HEB is the only place right around here to get wines. If I make a road trip this weekend I may be able to stop by the wine store a couple towns away and if so I will pick one up and get back to you.

I really wanna cut out the “Cab Franc Hour” introduction and post it on DiGG as “Gary V abandons WLTV…” etc. Great episode Gary, keep it up with the love at the vino biblioteca.

I’ll definitely try and find a Loire Valley Cab Franc and report back my thoughts, but I like not my chances in this town 🙁
