wow #3 Gary I think you should have waited till march to do battle week, I mean come on College March Madness / Wine Library TV March Madness. All the vayniacs could fill out bracket sheets and we could have tournament pools…. good idea. think about it.

Wow great match-up episode Gary! I’m going to have to try some of that Phillips Hill Pinot!

QOTD: The most memorable knockout I had was the 2003 El Nido – the big daddy (thus my gravatar). For this year, I would have to say the biggest knockout for me thus far was the 2003 Gemstone I drank for during New Years Eve dinner.

  • Wow. I wouldn’t normally spring 40 bones on a wine, but your enthusiasm tells me I must.

QOTD: can’t recall anything recently that was a revelation, although the last few NZ PNs I’ve had have all been REALLY good. very much looking forward to my Central Otago trip in August…

QOTD- I have never got that excited about a wine, but I’m hope it happens for me someday soon! Keep the battles going.

What, no Burgundy? No Oregon? GV, these head to heads are like division champs. We want the entire playoffs!

  • Love these H2H matchups GV! And love PN anyway. Gotta get my hands on these!

QOTD: It was the 1990 Tignanello. Had it in ’98 at $120/bottle and still cannot get the amazing experience to be beaten by anything else. However, more recently I’ve been thrilled with the ’04 Domaine Drouhin Laurene` PN.

Why yes, I do have one of those black wrist bands. Just call me HardCoreCin. 🙂

QOTD: 2005 Cayuse Syrah Cailloux Vineyard. A wine buddy shared this with me a month or two ago, and I just waved everyone away and told them to leave me alone for a while. I think I sniffy-sniffed that glass for about 10 minutes, finding new things every with every whiff. The taste help up to the nose, and it was one of the best wines I’ve ever had. I’m on the waiting list, and have found a bottle or two via people selling off their allotment.

the weirdest thing happened the last time i ordered wine from wine library — i ordered 2 bottles of Antonelli Sagrantino — and I received a single shipper with one bottle — Gary, I know your folks can’t just believe everything they hear, but it is true……

QOTD: 2003 Kunde Robusto. Just awesome!

  • Sonnenuhr

It’s the Eisch(pronounced Eye-sch)Breathable glasses, you nebisch. They completed change your tasting experience. Just in case, I got six boittles of the Phillips Hill.

QOTD The last bottle that blew me away like that was 1984 Spottswoode Cab that I had about a month ago. Thought it would be well past peak, but it brought the THUNDER (BIG time).
