QOTD: As a canadian, I am not sure why, but coming from British Columbia, cider is very popular. The first time that I got drunk was cider. I would say that my favourites would be pear ciders.

  • Love the ciders, but I’ve never been able to explore beyond the typical Woodchuck, Honsby’s, and Strongbow. Might have to seek out some more unique ones sometime.

    P.S.

QOTD: We have quite a few cider producers in Quebec. Michel Jodoin and La Face Cachée de la Pomme are tops.

Always expanding our horizons – that’s why I watch!

QOTD Born and raised in Frankfurt, Germany, where apple wine (not beer) is the local drink of choice. It tends to be on the dry side and still. They also serve it with a shot of cola and call it a “Korea” – oh well.

  • Daniel Sandoval

My wife and I love to drinl Woodchuck brand hard cider from vermont, they have many different types, several apple types, pear, and rasberry. Our favorites are Dark and Dry and Granny Smith. http://www.woodchuck.com/

QOTD: Yes….I have had it. Years ago. It was woodchuck cider, and last summer I had Scrumpy’s cider. All in all they were both good. Nothing I’d turn down…but it’s the sort of drink that I need to be in “a mood” for.

QOTD: My wife loves hard cider, really good ones in England. But over here in SOCAL we don’t have much to choose from so we stick with Wyders usually.

QOTD: Didn’t really enjoy the Woodchucks of the world and then I tried the Sammy Smith cider last week, and oh wow was it ever good.

  • DannInNH

QOTD: Never, but since it is being produced “in my backyard”, I will have to try some.

Nice change of pace show. Thanks!
That’s what hard ciders are good for, too (a nice change of pace, that is).

Woodchuck is good. Don’t have a particular favorite, but now I want to try the Farnum Hill from our neighbors across the river.

QOTD: I love cider (both alcoholic and non). Woodchucks dark in dry is decent, other than that I would say the good stuff is overseas.

  • QOTD – I’ve had hard ciders while traveling in England and France. Had some really nice fizzy stuff in little villages in northern France.

  • KVolk

QOTD: I have tried some at one point but I don’t recall the name. Nice but I would rather have beer.

GV you got another mention on TWIT today…the fan base is growing.

    Great episode!

All I can think of right now is a bottle of that, sitting around a big bonfire on a crisp October night!

I love hard cider! For a long time, my favorite cider was Strongbow out of England. I think this may have been replaced in the #1 spot by a line of ciders out of Oregon — Wandering Aengus Ciderworks. I especially love their dry cider.

Glad to see you do some tasting outside of wine. I need to head down this path at some point and work on the craft beer scene…and now cider.

    hope you’re doing well gary
