Funny that I watched this two days after Easter, when I had opened a 1985 Domaine Senechaux CdP…. Had explosive raspberry on the nose, with some cherry and raspberry and spice on the palate. Not much of the gaminess I’m used to experiencing with these wines, but very nice nonetheless. Did NOT go well with the ham (didn’t expect it to), but it did sing with the scalloped potatoes au gratin…

FWIW, one of the cheaper CdP’s I’ve enjoyed several times in the past was Cht. Saint Siffrein. But now looking forward to trying the Autards….

Great show! do us cork-dorks a favor and break down the Grenache vs. Cincault components in these CndPs that you love.

QOTD: It’s all about the Bordeaux baby! I’ve been reading so much lately about the upcoming 2005 vintage and how amazingly perfect it was for the region, so I’ve been trying to taste as many as possible. A couple were disappointing for sure, but I am so amped about the Chateau Gigault Cuvee Viva that I’ll be popping this weekend. 91 pts WS at $21? Talk about QPR!

Great show today! – I will be drinking a 2004 Delas Crozes-Hermitage white. My first Rhone white VERY VERY excited!!!! Please drink some viogner on your show soon.

QOTD: I’m behind as I’ve been away, but last weekend I was drinking bad Chinese wine, average Chinese beer and superb cocktails in Shanghai. Chinese, Japanese and Korean wines interesting stuff – were’s teh show on it??????

It is a little too late but for that weekend I would have drank the wines I listed in the previous episode. The ’97 Castello di Ama Chianti Classico and the 2005 Domaine de Ladoucette Pouilly Fume. Both are fully worth the search and price.

I am catching up on some old episodes (been traveling) and last weekend the best wine I drank – Easter weekend – was a Cote de Nuits bourgogne.

Coolest thing I drank that weekend was the 2002 Penfolds Shiraz St. Henri. Very Old-World in execution, needs decanter time. Very pleased to have more to age.

I love Chateauneufs!!!

Mirassou Merlot would be good to check out. Tried it recently.
