qotd – I just picked up half a case of the Montes Limited Selection 2007 Leyda Valley Sauv Blanc. Razor sharp acidity, a little grapefruit, passion fruit, and guava for days. Great wine, and a couple friends I shared it with went out and picked up a few bottles for themselves. I’ve also enjoyed the 2006 Kim Crawford, as well as the Concha y Toro Winemaker’s Lot 2006, which has beautiful grapefruit to go along with great acidity.

Favorite SB: DAGUENEAU Kills it (Poulliy Fume) If you don’t know his wines, learn them. I will not accept that there is a better Sauv. Blanc producer anywhere. But if forced to drink new world Sauv. Blanc I want Dog Point (pref. section 94 bottling) from NZ. Amazingly structured wines.

CKC shout out… Just did a killer dinner with some Merlot and Pino Gris, i was on a ride of tuna, duck, and kebab(chicken, steak and shrimp). QOTD: As for Sauvignon blank I think the last one was a local TEXAS wine from Pheasant Ridge wineries. But other that great show, and I think my friends and I are going to pick up on this Wine Blog Wednesday!

QOTD. of the sauvignon blancs I’ve tried, it’s a varietal I really like. The last one I had was a gift from a friend and it was (like winolee a comment or two down from me) a Cakebread sauv blanc. I think my friend got it at a place in Los Feliz in LA…it was tasty and I’m excited to try more…

Crowded House ’07, Marlborough – all the typical Marlborough flava flavs and a Saint Bris – a Sauvignon Blanc from the Chablis region – less pronounced, kind of half way between a Chablis and a Marlborough one.

QOTD: My favourite SB at the moment is Forrest Hill from NZ. White grapefruit peel all day on the nose.

P.S. Whirl is much better than Sippy Sip. It takes away from Sniffy Sniff, and makes it seem ‘kitchy’ when you double up the doubling up.

Favorite Sauvignon Blanc I’ve had recently: Cade 2006. I do enjoy the Nobilo as well.

Gary, Check out Spring Mountain sav blanc from St Helena. I was at the Pebble Beach Food and Wine event this past week and it was the best white wine that I tasted.

Favorite SB of the moment – Berardus Monterey 2005 SB.

Love the Sauvignon Blanc! It’s the best to cook with by far.

I’ve been drinking the Villa Maria from New Zealand.

Although I really want to go and find the Allan Scott. Just finished the book First Big Crush by Eric Arnold who you had on the show a while back. Loved it. Recommend more.
