qotd: gnocci in a brown butter sage sauce. as simple and delicious as it gets.
good show. Borolos tend to be a special occasion wine with me. i’ve enjoyed the ones I’ve had, but they’re pricier than my average bottle.

  • I absolutely Love Barolo, my favorite wine…way to Go Gary. Great show

    Thanks for today’s show!

It was nice to watch a show with a wine, as serious as Barolo. I personally love Barolo, but at the same time I believe that it is a type of wine, that needs to be aged properly before drinking.

QOTD: I love Italian food, and couldn’t possibly choose just one, but a few days ago I made a risotto that turned out great 🙂 Arborio rice, a nice pinot grigio and a 16 month old parmigiano reggiano, made it smooth, creamy and rich.

    P.S.
PlEASE: more port- and champagne shows! 🙂

  • I really need to get some more Barolos, I only have one from the not-so-good 2002.

QOTD – Risotto Milanese, simple ingredients but delicious when done right.
….and if we’re talking starter then a Caprese; ripe tomatoes, good buffalo Mozarella, a drizzle of EV Oilive oil and a sprinkle of Balsamic on top.

QOTD: Saltimbocca with polenta, no… wait, I mean braised lamb shank with risotto Milanese,… er… no, I meant grilled whole branzino… or, no, I really meant bucatini al amatriciana.

Ah forget it… that’s not a fair question… it’s like asking which breath was my favorite!

Hey Gary you do need some comment love! I was dissapointed with the weekends.

QOTD – I would have to say a nice grilled rosmary Pork loin with grilled Potatoes and marinated spinach and garlic , or Wild Boar Soprosata with Pecorino. Pair either with a 2005 Zardini Valpolichella

re:qotd – all italian food is pretty awesome, gnocchi, osso bucco, veal marsala, etc. etc. Hard to beat with good wine next to it.
Staying on the italian mind frame,
is it just me, or is GV starting to look each day more like Joe Pesci…

Fave italian food is hard. I’d say a good Risotto with white wine and sausage. Hey, I’m having that for dinner tonight! Yay!

Old school thunder. After seeing todays show, I think it may time to whip out a Gaja. You deserve it G-Man. I am still not nearly familiar enough with Barolo, shame on me.

QOTD: Porcini-in all forms. In NYC the funghi taleggio pizza @Otto. All time favorite a real pizza with parma and arugula.

PS: Are you going to get any of that Poet’s Leap from the Taste of Washington Epi#1??
