  • QOTD: Actually, I was having a Chenin Blanc (’07 fairview from South Africa) when I began watching tonight’s show.

On another note, I bought 6 copies of your book and being an internetz guru, nothing beats the printed word. ANYBODY can write a blog or post a message but who actually gets published?

Two out-of-the-box observations: 1) our gravatars are gone, why? and 2) Mott: when Gary hands you a wine glass, please pick it up by the stem instead of the bowl. 🙂

    Cheers!

Nice show. What is the highest score you have given a wine?

Gary, QOTD: has to be from the Loire- Vouvray during my WSET advance certification training. Thank God this varietal was not on the tasting exams as I have found it to very elusive to pin point as you have shown in the wines today. I plan to get more expeience with this grape. It makes very interesting wines. Thanks for the covering it in the show

Last chenin blanc: 1996 Domaine des Baumard Quarts de Chaume (dessert wine) – an absolutely mind blowing experience. Saved it for a family reunion over the holidays. I gave it 97 points on CT. Incredible fragrances and flavors of honey, molasses, caramel, creme brulee, pineapple upside down cake, with enough acidity to balance it perfectly.

Loves me some CB. However, I find myself always going back to Vouvray or Savennieres to get my fix of bigger, more interesting & complex ones. Pricier, yes. Worth it, most of the time. Great outdoor BBQ wines.

QOTD: Oddly enough, my last CB was the Dry Creek. I think you went 1 or 2 pts higher than me. Good in the mouth, bleh on the finish. If there was one.

Again…kudos and congrats on the book.

  • QOTD: I’ve had the 2005 Dry Creek. The last Chenin Blanc I had was a Ken Forrester’s (also South African), good stuff.

You are a horse of many colors!!! Can change at any time-for any situation!!

QOTD: I just had one at a big tasting but did not enjoy it so I blocked it out of my mind, but I know if I ever saw it again I would remember not to buy it. Not a big fan of that grape. Reminds me of my early wine experience with alot of spritzer added!

Whew! Glad I got in to see Thurs ep!! 🙂

    Good episode!
    QoTd
Actually a little embarrassed to say I liked the CA chenin blanc, columbard, chablis during the 70’s, but got away from them when I discovered riesling. I guess it’s time to go back in time.

QOTD: This was the first wiine I actually remember tasting. On my last day at college in San Luis Obispo, we toured all of the wineries in the county, all Four of them. Yes, there were only four wineries in SLO in 1980 that I remember. Have not had CB since then.
