QOTD: This was the first wiine I actually remember tasting. On my last day at college in San Luis Obispo, we toured all of the wineries in the county, all Four of them. Yes, there were only four wineries in SLO in 1980 that I remember. Have not had CB since then.

QOTD; Alliance Loire Les Lys Vouvray 2005, it was our first taste of a chenin and both of us really liked it.

  • QOTD: Haven’t had a Chenin Blanc yet. Adding it to the list.

  • Wow. It has probably been fifteen years since I had a Chenin Blanc. I went through a period where I tried several of them, but decided they weren’t my style. Too many of them had too much RS for me. Too many of them lacked acid and were just plain flabby. They seemed too floral on the order of simple riesling (NTTAWWT!). My palate has changed though, and I find myself liking many varietals not that I didn’t used to like. I promise to seek a couple out and give them a try.

  • Gary, please don’t ban me from watching but … honestly, I’ve never had Chenin Blanc. I watch WLTV for its entertainment value, and I’m working up to being a true wine guy.

Cheninathon II! That was short and sweet.

Damn it, you had to go and remind me that I forgot to slip a Chidaine Vouvray on my last box.

QOD: 2006 Domaine Pichot Peu de la Moriette Vouvray. Deep gold and delicious.

last CB was a south african one, ’06 Villiera. Very good for $10 at my local wine place, had some nice spice going on in the background.

They were talking about the Jets on sportscenter the other day and showed a couple draft clips. Was hoping they’d show GV going bonkers! but alas no…

  • QOTD: I’m not much of a white fan, occasionally have an Alsatian Riesling with Thai but not much else…..life is too short to drink wine that doesn’t turn you on. The last Chenin Blanc I had was at my favorite wine store which is always pouring three different wines while you shop. It was an over-oaked example from Napa, don’t even remember who made it….sorry.

Last I’ve had was a winery in Napa – it was nice and refreshing, but a little light and hollow too.

Don’t know if I’ve ever had a Chenin Blanc and I really don’t have a comment. Just covering my a$$ in case Mott really has a techno-geeko way to block us from watching. LOL. 🙂

QOTD: MAN Chenin Blanc from South Africa. Had this at a tasting and everyone agreed that it tasted more like a Sauv Blanc than the South African Sauv Blanc that was also at the tasting.

  • TommyBoBo of WI

Vouvray,,, one of my first experiences with imported wines…. had one, loved, hit a real dry one the next time,,”what the heck?” then learned they can be all over the spectrum… Great food wine! thanks for the ep! much appreciated!

QOTD- Drank a sparking vouvray in 11-06, and a still chenin blanc last summer on a hot day in an outdoor restaurant in NYC. Neither one knocked my socks off, but worth a try, and will try again because the palate is always changing and two tastes does not an opinion make.

  • Cosmo108

QOTD: My friend’s homemade chenin blanc from California fruit.
