  • My GF is pretty serious about whites – currently on a bottle of 2005 Comte LaFond Sancerre – Suggest me something similar / better to get. @twitter.com/blane

    Cheers from Australia!

Two bottles of Fixin lined up for a mini-vertical when the moment is right. Hoping I’m not disappointed after all this build up, been waiting a few years to drink them.

Curious, when you’re eating lobster, what white burg are you popping?

Gary – my next white burgundy is not in the same league as these but I have picked up a couple of bottles of Louis Latour St-Véran Les Deux Moulins 2005 for £5.99, which is a good price for a lesser Burgundy.

Those three wines put together is a months car payment, don’t have those deep pockets. I will gladly take those open samples though if you want me to broaden my palate.
honestly have not tasted a lot of Burgundy’s

QOTD: 2005 Bzikot Bourgogne Blanc, purchased from WL. Last week we had a 1990 Louis Latour Corton-Charlemagne. The big bucks white burgundies are not meant for immediate consumption. Only aging justifies the cost.

Good show Gary! I keep saying I am going to try more white wines but I am on a budget and never seem to squeeze any in when I go shopping. 🙂

always good to see a show on white burgs. especially good white burgs. 2005 is tricky for the whites in burgundy. of course they are good, but a lot of the burg dorks out there are saying the 05’s are more worthy than the 03’s, they are not classic enough like 04 and 06. i guess it is what you like. i usually want a little more fruit in my white because after a while, the rocks are good, i just want a little more fruit.
QOTD: i am not sure. i just had a montagny 1er cru from jean marc boillot, 06 it was good. not blow your brains out, but for 18 clams, it did the job. a few years down the road and it might be in business.
i have about 8 bottles downstairs. i always tell myself i should stock up a bit more on white burgs.
    anywho, great show

This is my first comment about your video blog. I registered about almost a year ago, and started to watch your videos seriously about a month ago. I really enjoy your knowledge about vino, thank you.

Nice show, Gary. Maybe something from St. Aubin. I think that I heard of that region somewhere…maybe 100 shows ago.

A very good episode as always…I don’t drink a lot of white wines until the weather changes to the hot-side…mostly as a change of pace…but do enjoy a nice bottle of chardonnay every now and then.

QOTD: Maison LeRoy Muersault…Domaine Serene Coeur Blanc…Kistler are my favorites when I have white wine but will look to add the Fantaine Garnard and give it whirl…..

Nice episode. Wish I had the cash to try wines like those last two. Some day.

QOTD: don’t recall having a white Burgundy. My last lobster match, which worked quite well, was Bollini Chardonnay Barricato 40 2006.

QotD: No specific white burgs in mind, will probably just go with the store’s recs.

QOTD: Definitely a Montrachet of some kind, Puligny or Chassagne. God, I wish a Batard or Chevalier could be in that selection…will check with my accountant on that one. Great Thursday prez, as usual. The first (Jadot) that displayed ‘oak monster’ “mildly”, rather rhymes with “wildly”…no? Got two of your new books on hold at the old Amazon, Gary. What’s one more wine book, especially, if this is groundbreaking? Slainte.

my favorite!!! thanks for the show!
I will be having a basic burgundy from Paul Pernot $17 !!
it tastes much like his higher crus—worth a try and won’t break the bank for those of us who can’t live without white burgundy.

    Hi Gary,

Huge, Huge congratulations on your first book, what a fantastic achievement on top of all that has gone before with wine library. It’s good to see good things happen to good people.

I recently found your show and I have been a Vaynaholic ever since.. I live in Dublin, Ireland so alot of the wines you review are not available in this market, but tend to be a fan of the french, spanish and some of the new world wines from Australia. I’ve noticed a huge growth in wines from chille.. they are everywhere.. I’m not a fan as they are mostly sold in pubs and bars and i’m assuming thats because they are cheap n cheerful and tend to have a very chemical disposition.. wonder what you think.. anyway.. love they work you do, haven;t a clue about sport but i love your passion.. great success with your book..
