I just got a 100% tempranillo wine that was low in price and rated high so I am curious how it will taste.
QOTD: My go to cereals are cinnamon toast crunch and peanut butter crunch, keeping it healthy of course.

  • Hey Gary! I’m thrilled to see such good marks for the Tempranillo! It gives me validation for the handful of California Reds I’ve picked up in recent years, which I’ve just started trying out (they’ve each had VERY similar characteristics to what you found in this one).

    QOTD: Cocoa puffs: awesome when I was a kid, and they still rock now that I’m 47. Gotta love slurping up the chocolate milk when you’re done with the bowl 🙂

    No surprise on the La Linda. I am super impressed with the quality of what I’ve been drinking out of Argentina and Chile. South American wines are some of the best QPRs in the wine world right now.

    Hmm, what cereal am I eating? That’s a pretty zooey QOTD, but the answer is that lately I’ve been radically into hot barley. I ran through like a pound of rolled barley earlier this month, which was so good, I ran out & bought a pound of unrolled hulled barley a day or two ago. I’ll have it with some skim milk, grade B maple syrup, maybe some slivered almonds, and maybe some slices of those teeny-tiny little bananas you see at the really cool vegetable stands these days. That probably wouldn’t go well with Tempranillo though. 8>)) Which reminds me that I haven’t been drinking many Spanish reds for the past couple of years; time to stock up on ’em & refresh the old palate about their unique qualities.

I think it’s a very underrated varietal and I’m glad you gave it some love and the central coast of cali is putting out some great immigrant varietals.

    Got corn flakes and bran flakes and special K in cupboard. If I want to go 100 % varietal, I’ll have cereal from just one box for breakfast. If I want to get fancy and blend, I’ll mix — which I usually do.
