Cool tech and wine, how could it get any better

    QOTD one mil

  • btw..youre both GREAT SPITTERS!
    🙂

  • Very interesting. A great idea for everyday wine drinkers like myself. However, I wouldn’t want to see classic wines in kegs, it would just kill the romance.

  • I agree that this is a phenomenal idea! So many restaurants / bars buy the cheaper wines simply because they are inexpensive to get in bulk. If wineries could price their wines a little less by putting them in these kegs, I think we would see more and more restaurants selling better wines for the same price as what we are paying for the cheap stuff… or they may end up just charging more and pocketing the profits 😉 Either way, it would end up either better for the consumer or better for the restaurant – or both! Definitely a very interesting product.

QOTD: I have no idea. I’m gonna say 340,000 just to toss a number out there.

Love the episode G. It always seems windy whenever you tape outside. Love the Sasha cameo. What many things need is more cowbell but WLTV could always use more SV,oh, and beer episodes.

This is such a great idea for restaurants! I usually always order wine by the glass when I eat out and this new technology would greatly increase the quality of wines by the glass. I would never use it at home tho, love the opening of a bottle and like to vary the wines too much to drink just one for weeks!
QOTD: I will say 50,000. Just a guess.

  • Clemclone

    Love the theme song!!

It would have to be for parties and wine bars. I don’t think I could drink that much of the same wine. I’d go nuts.

I’d like to see how the red held up after 6 months.

That’s pretty cool. You guys go through 15 bottles of the same wine at a party? You’ve got to bring more variety than that.

Great show as always. I am all about aternative packaging for wines and especially for getting better quality wine put into alternative packages. I have a question, tho – why is the nitrogen keg better than bag in box? Bag in Box seems like the ultimate eco friendly as well as good for wine as well as very inexpensive type packaging – or am I missing something? I could see kegs of sparkling wine, though -that would completely rad. Maybe you could do a show sometime to enlighten us on the pros and cons of alternative package types . . . maybe using wines from Europe or in the future maybe there will be some interesting wines available in alt packages here in the US.

    QOTD – no idea. A lot I bet. I’ll guess 50,000.

  • QOTD: 110,000. Because anything less would be uncivilized, and anything more would be excessive.

Great show. How you could keep your focus in a New Joisey tornado is beyond me.

Great show. I would be excited to to hear some Chateau Y’quem is in kegs (or other such craziness). Thank You for the awesome, outdoor episode.

wow, i’d definitely keep something like this flowing at my house if the juice was right and the price was right. for everyday drinking… a glass with dinner, etc. seems like a great solution. best of luck with it… i’m really interested to see where something like this can go.

that really innovative, and with the way the people are trying to be more eco friendly i think (as far as the new world individuals go) this may have a good chance. old world people, your gonna have a bit more trouble convincing them that this “may” be the future. you never know. a really cool concept tho, and innovative like i said.

  • Wine kegs- really interesting. What a CKC dream! 🙂 This would be really cool in a bar/restaurant…it’d definitely beat putting argon gas into each and every opened wine bottle!

QOTD: I’d say in excess of one million. Europeans like to drink!

PS- Intro was good, nice to hear the song again, but the end was far too long. I like the graphic, but I think it needs to be a bit quicker imho.

I find it amusing to watch you pan wines when the winemaker/salesperson is standing next to you. He took it with grace. It has been said by others before, I think its better to not evaluate wines directly infront of anyone who has a vested interested in them.

Gary, I gotta say that I was proud of you for being willing to dis a wine despite having the guest. That’s a tough situation, but you found a (legitimate) way to praise the guy without pretending the wine was perfect. With that said, this keg is a really great idea, and I agree that it would be a big plus for restaurants selling a lot of wine by the glass.

QOTD: I have absolutely no idea.

  • Marc – Irvine

It’s a cool concept for partying and restaurants. But for home I’d rather do the ritual of opening a bottle, cutting the metal cover, pulling the cork, pouring a glass…
QOTD: No idea how many kegs are sold… not too many I guess

  • We live in San Francisco and have enjoyed MAS wine by the glass in several restaurants locally. It’s consistently good, well priced, and in a very cool package. SF prides itself on being cutting edge and green, and MAS wine fits the bill in both cases.

Cool idea…I’m like you, though GV, I would like to see a little bit better quality wines going in. OR… have a wine keg that will allow you to add whatever wine you want to it.

awesome!! I saw a bit about Mas in Wines and Vines a few months back and thought the idea was brilliant especially for sports bars where, if the keg is displayed, they novelty would definitely help sell it. I’m glad GV asked them to push the quality, too. Let’s get some big time ballers together throw some Romanee Conti in there are have a tailgate royal style.

    QOTD: No f’in clue.
