  • Interesting concept….I’m surprised that Gary isn’t pushing to put the Vayniac Napa Cabernet in some of these kegs….HMMMM, Oh and

QOTD: I have no idea…maybe I’ll have a better grasp after I go over there.

Wine on tap…not a bad idea. Lightning quick tap procedure, too. Half-expected you next to a Girl Scout Cookies stand nearby, or selling World’s Finest Chocolate Bars for the local Little League team. Weather reminded me of what Florida summers can be like. Not always sunshine and beach opps.
GV, nice change of venue, irregardless. QOTD – No se, Jose…posible 750,000 kegs…Salud.

and i didn’t even comment on the restaurant aspect earlier!

this might not fit the bill for places with big lists, or places that already have nitrogen systems in place because they like to have a good selection of wines by the glass.

but man, like 95% of restaurants in that $10-15 entree price point need to get on board with something like this. this would completely solve the problem of having to drink five day old chianti dregs, while at the same time saving the restaurant the expense of installing a whole nitrogen system.

really great technology… hope it takes off.

GREAT idea for a product, and equally terrible QOTD. I don’t have a clue. Maybe 172,896?

  • I love the enviornmental friendliness of the wine kegs, sounds great for restaurant application or large festive gatherings!

I’m going to try and make it to Corte Madera book signing if I can get off work, just a 2 hour drive or so for me…and Napa-Sonoma are right there on the way. 😉

I think this is a really cool idea for restaurants. It is way more compact and on less expensive wines (ones you don’t pay a premium just for the producer) the bottle cost being cut out can be a big deal. I think this is something a lot of restaurants will move towards. The preserving technology in general is amazing. It would be great to be able to get classic glasses of certain wines because the restaurant isn’t afraid to open a bottle that no one else will drink in the next day or so.

Great show Gary! Thank you for expanding our knowledge of not just wine, but the wine world in general.

QQTD: 20K worth of wine kegs in Italy a year is my guess.

I am one of those annoying restaurant customers who ask when the bottle was opened when I want something by the glass. But how much more annoying is it when you get a glass of something that has been sitting around too long? I like the keg!

  • I am from Bottle Barn a reatil wine shop in Santa Rosa, California and sell Mas Vino kegs. We are getting great feedback from our customers about this product and are excited to see Mas Vino getting the attention it deserves. These guys are ahead of the curve and have a cutting edge product. Props to them!

Incredible idea put into practical production.

This is just from one wine producer in Italy … “Montelvini sold half a million 20-liter reusable kegs of wine last year, and even with expanded facilities, is hard-pressed to keep up with demand” and it only costs 50 Euros which is pretty kool.

Gary is right .. this is a really kool idea.

  • From the descriptions of the wine during tasting, it sounds like Andy hit exactly the per glass price point he’s targeting for restaurants. The keg technology to sustain the quality level of the wine over time is great. Love the environmentally friendly benefits!

Pretty cool, as mentioned, great for parties, especially if the quality of the wine used improves.

Sorry I can’t relate to the keg. I like the entrepreneurial spirit but…come on… it’s not sustainable!
qotd: No idea but it would fill a lake I imagine.

  • It’s TURE: “Most wines will open up dramatically more as they open!” Sorry GVee, I couldn’t let it go,it was so funny! Thanks for bringing us something new … I await better wines available this way in the future, and hopefully some competition. Thanks dude!

We have a MAS Vino keg on our counter at home here in California–the wine is great, goes well with many types of dinners, and it’s a awesome for entertaining a group! Many friends have enjoyed a glass of vino from the keg!

The environmental edge on this product is terrific–it’s nice to see any company out there making an effort to reduce energy and packaging materials going into production…not to mention actually reusing the packaging itself! Mas is awesome!

  • Thats a kick ass keg. I have to wonder if the Nitrogen tank is running it up on cost. Eather way, I drink enough wine to get one, if only I could pick/make a house wine to store in it.

You need to link up the company that handles those kegs, they would be great for home wine/beer makers.

    Cool technology!

Awesome walk-by and scene-stealing (from his vehicle, no less!) by Sasha!

QOTD: Because he asked the question, it has to be a lot. 2-3 million, maybe?
