qotd: a micro brewThe wino in me has to point out that Condrieu isn’t ever a blend, it’s 100% viognier, no marsanne is allowed. (ditto for Chateau-Grillet)

I love beer too. Just waiting for another beer episode. QOTD: I would have to go with Dogfish head 90min IPA and maybe Samuel Smith’s nut brown ale, good stuff!

Good to see a fellow Boys fan. Gary, don’t be jealous about our team. Lay off the Boys or we will send Pac Man to pay you a visit. Ha.

    i like sam adams, too
recently had a long neck bottle of the belgian chimay red
herbs & spices in the beer. delicious.
also had a belgian style beer from quebec which was expensive (yen1,100) but worth it.
recently i’m all over the belgians. could be a result of living in japan with their clean, crisp, flavor-challenged beers
    thanks for the shows

    Gary,
What a nice show offering the co-pilot’s seat to a Vayniac. Nice. I felt I was invited to a private wine tasting and enjoyed the comraderie. Thanks for the shout out to Bern’s in Tampa. Looking forward to your re-visit. Sold a ’99 Sartori Corte Bra Amarone for $60.00, and a 1970 Haut Liberal.
Do you remember Fizzies? You might be too young. But the grape fizzies and root beer were my favs.

  • I’m starting to think I like the new-world Shiraz style (as opposed to old-world Syrah, which I really like), although I’ve not had too many and there were a couple of crocks in there.

QOTD – Belgian ale and wheat beers, including German HefeWeizen. Yum!

  • My list of fav beers is longer than my list of fav wines, I’ll spare ya’ll the long list. I’ve been drinking them craft beers (aka micro-brews) since before it was legal for me to do so. IPAs are my top favorite!

  • If I have to drink only beer for the rest of my life, it would probably have to be hefe-weizen. But can I please through some oatmeal stout in there for diversity?

  • Not only is Heathcote swamped by the Barossa and Mclaren Vale, there are quite a few other great Shiraz regions in Australia, that are quite unique, make some very classy wines with structure and character, not the overblown ballsy reds that are seen more in the US. Regions such as Mt Barker Western Australia, Mt Barker South Australia, Gippsland, The Grampians, these are just a few.

Oh, and Cascade Premium Ale from Tasmania. You now have another Aussie as a fan.
