Yeah, the Chilean Crameneres are still pretty hit-and-miss.

QOTD: The last one I had was a Carmenere-Merlot blend called “oops”. The labeling is kinda gimmicky, but it easily beats out most of the other Crameneres I’ve had, and it’s cheap, too (~$10). I’ve also tried some of their other varieties (including a Rose of Cramenere) and not been disappointed.

QOTD: I have never had a Carmenere but I do promise to try one in the next three months (free.winelibrary perhaps 😉

Can’t remember our last Carmenere, but I know we’ve had at least one. Great job on Conan and Mad Money, both were hysterical! I just got your books yesterday and read quite a bit. It’s very hard to put down and I know I’ll have to read it a few times to catch all your witty lines. I hope you come out with 101 wines every year to keep us updated on what you think are the hot buys. Thanks for everything Gary and for another great episode.

I had a regular Errazuriz Estate last week- decent enough and I think it showed some of the nice Carmenere character.

QOTD: I don’t believe I’ve ever had a Carmenere, I know I’ve had an Errazuriz but I can’t remember what. Yes, I promise to try a Carmenere at the first possible moment.

QOTD: the Vina Chocolan Carmenere that you tasted on the show and didn’t really like (84 points). it didn’t kill me either, but I plan to try some more Carmeneres soon.

QOTD: Havn’t had a carmenere but I will try one. May go out right now and find one in fact. Might even try the Concha Y Toro if I can find it. For $4, why not. It’s worth a try even if I hate it. Good show and nice job on the “real tv” as well.

Calina Reserve Carmenere (I had the 2001)

Most places I checked you can get it for under $9.

Haven’t had one, will have after I’ve cleared the great Australian tasting this weekend in London. Is someone else coming?

THe last Carmenere I had was a 2006 Santa Rita Reserva Carmenere. I thought it had a well rounded balance and lingering persistence. Its aroma is dominated by red fruits and spices. Priced decently. I really love the Carmere grape. Good show.

QOTD: The last carmenere was Colores del Sol. The name is very pretty, more so than the vino.

It’s awesome how wine can really surpass or really fall short sometimes. Great show, it shows me that there can be misses, but that’s the beauty of trying wines and expanding palates.

QOTD:I had a Carmenere recently, but I can’t remember what it was. It was from Chile as was a Cab that I had from around the same area. It’s amazing how old world tasting they both were. The guy at the wine shop said something about Chile having a lot of really really old vines..just fascinating stuff!
