So I turned 21 today… which is good for the wine-drinking experience. I’ve been enjoying your show for a few months now and now I’ll be able to enjoy the wine too.

I promise to try a camenere. I’ll keep an eye out for this grape next time I’m out.

QOTD: I didn’t BUY it (as it is outside of my reasonable price range) but I tasted the 2004 Montes Purple Angel Carmenere after I served it to some customers.

Interestingly enough there are some nice Carmenere wines being made in Australia now. But same problem, some overly herbaceous and a green. But I love the substance they deliver. Great Episode.

QOTD – Last week Primus 2004 it was AWESOME $12 at costco.

I’m really getting tired of people making demands on what I should, or should not, do. But what the heck, one more time won’t really matter. Ok…….ok……I promise.

The last Carmenere I had was Terra Andina 2006 Carmenere, Central Valley, Chile.

QOTD: My last Carmenère from Chile was the “MontGras Carmenère Reserva 2005”. 87 points by the Wine Spectator, but I really disliked it: for me, the wine had rather thin mouth-feel, a hollow mid-palate and an awkward finish. But I really liked the “La Joya Carmenère Gran Reserva 2001”, which I had last year.

QOTD: I had one about 3 months ago, and I also remember it being very vegetal on the nose and funky.

QOTD: Errazuriz Estate Carmenere; definitely need to try more though. My experience with Carmenere has been limited.

Not yet. I will probably purchase one after trying the Cornas wine though.

QOTD: It’s been nearly a year (!) since I’ve had one… I need to get back and buy one very soon. Of the 50 (or so) single varietal wines I’ve tried, it’s one of those that I really haven’t explored very much. The last one I had was the 2005 Santa Alicia Carménère Reserve. It was pretty good; I rated it 88 points in my notes. A bit overoaked, but otherwise not bad.

QOTD: Ventisquero Carmenere..smooth and yet very veggie on the mid palate! Will like to try the Errazuriz to compare!

I actually drink Carmenere often. I particularly like it with lamb.

QOTD: Morande “Edicion Limitada” Carmenere 2002

The best Carmenere I have ever had was a 2004 reserve from Misiones De Rengo.
One of my favorite wines ever. Unfortunately you can’t buy it in the U.S.
