QOTD: I’m really not a sports guy, but going to Fenway for Game Five of the ALCS in 2004 with my Dad was really something else.

QOTD: Probably watching Tiger tee it up whenever he plays. We’re watching history and I find that very exciting.

Nice highlight on Gavi. I really need to expand my knowledge of Italian whites, just in time for summer seafood!

QOTD: Probably winning first place in a dressage horse show. I was proud!

QOTD: Texas A&M Aggies beating the University of Texas Longhorns in Coach Fran’s final game last Thanksgiving.

QOTD: As a sports spectator, I get a little teary-eyed just thinking about the US-Soviet ice hockey game at the 1980 Olympic games in Lake Placid. My wife & I were living in a small apartment in Muelheim an der Ruhr in what was then West Germany, and had turned on the TV at about 2 or 3:00 am in order to catch the game live. When the Americans scored, we heard a lot of yelling & screaming from OUTSIDE our apartment. It seems that a large portion of the rest of the world (or at least in Muelheim) was up & watching that same game, and cheering on the Americans in this incredible upset. It was somtheing of an enlightenment to discover that we weren’t alone.

QOTD- Living in Breckenridge, CO. 1998, not a big Bronco’s fan, however, caught up in the excitement that was overwhelming, SUPER BOWL VICTORY!!! Looking back I liken it to tasting wine at the winery. Always better when your there right?

I know it’s old school and cliche but still the 1980 USA olympic hockey team triumph over the USSR team. It was happening right up the road from me and friends, family and I were around the tube watching and going Crazy! Nothing will top that.

QOTD: personal – little league championships game 3 (best of 3 series) when I was 12, hit a go-ahead triple the other way line drive down the first base line in the top of the 6th, then came in to pitch the bottom of the 6th to get the save. oh, and I did this after getting a root canal that morning.

QOTD: My sports moment, when I got to the top on my mountain bike, only to fall over the side and the only thing that stopped me was a tree! Bonk! What a moment, I crawled back up and said “Man, I’m alive!”

The 2005 MLB season was a great one for Houston fans. An incredible come back season culminating in the first Texas team appearance in the World Series; What a ride.

The highlight for me was watching Clements coming in as a relief pitcher for the Astros in the longest playoff game in history. Of all the junk the man may or may not have done, walking into the dugout to tell the skipper he was ready to go and then seeing him, one of the greatest starters of all time, in the bullpen to do whatever it took to help his team… that was cool.

Wine TV is driving me to drink in more ways than one.

I want to start off by saying that I really respect what you do, love your show and have been watching everyday for the last 102 episodes; however, It seems like you’re hesitant to rate a lower priced wine above your comfort zone (around 90 points). For instance on today’s show, you really seemed to love the 2006 Martinetti Gavi Di Gavi but only scored it 1 point higher (90 points) than the 2006 Villa Sparina Gavi Di Gavi, which you liked. Your passion exploded when tasting the second wine, but you hesitated to give it a higher score. I am a red wine drinker, but your enthusiasm and description of the second wine makes me want to go and buy it (expanding my palate :). I would have expected you to rate the second wine 92+ by the way you seemed to enjoy it. Please do not take this criticism the wrong way and please don’t stop rating the wines. I think it’s important in understanding how one compares to another in your opinion. I use that to judge what to try and not try based on how our palates are the same and differ. I am still getting used to how your palate compares to mine but in the end the score is still beneficial (along with the explanation). I just get a little confused when we run into a difference between how you express a wine and how you rate the wine. In those situations I am at a loss as to how to pursue whether to buy it or not.
