QOTD- Yes A 04′ Girlan Laurin at an Italian wine tasting dinner focusing on Alto Adige. Very different, went well with the beef thing with the bone in the middle that I forgot the name of. Quick fact- Portland, OR consumes more Italian wines per capita than any other market in the USA. Go figure.

Great show doing what you do! Expanding our palates, giving us new things to try. You are the reason I just bought a Chinon Rose! What the hell am I doing wasting my money on that? Gary wants me to! OOOOHHHH!

QOTD: Lagrein…Never heard of it. I’ll ask around.

Hey Gary, I think you’re the only person on the planet who knew about that whole over-sniffing of pepper will give you a headache thing. Thanks for the fun-fact

Gary, I love when you introduce me to a varietal, region, or style Iâ??ve never heard of. It usually leads to me running off and quickly acquiring a bottle. On the other hand my wifeâ??s been wondering why she sees so many wine charges on the credit card statement. She also wonders why the wine stockpile in the basement pantry is ever expanding. It appears that I donâ??t drink wine at the same rate that you tempt me to acquire. I checked the Pennsylvania site. They donâ??t list any lagreins. I also checked the catalog for â??Total Wineâ? in Claymont, Delaware. They list two lagreins. Itâ??s possible Iâ??ll pick one up today. While Iâ??m at it seems Iâ??m supposed to pick up a dry red from Portugal. Of course you donâ??t believe a person should try just one, but there are limits. The stock pile problem is serious. To make matters worse, for the next two weeks Iâ??ll still be on a diet and wonâ??t be drinking any wine. If the lagrein I pick up is a 2006 or younger then I probably wonâ??t get around to trying it this year. I just have too many 2005 and younger piled up. Many of them are varietals, regions, or styles Iâ??ve never tried. Gary, you add a lot of fun to my life and I look forward to meeting you next Thursday.

QOTD: Never had it but it sounds like everything I LOVE in a wine. So I will promise I will seek it out for sure. I know that no one around where I live has one so I will have to really travel for this one and I’m sure it will be worth it!

Thanks for expanding my “PAL” Cheers

I do not think I have had a Lagrein. Since I don’t remember, I’m going to try to find one soon. Hopefully the local Italian store has one.

  • I have never heard of Lagrein. My wife and I like to drink wine, and admit that we are still trying to find what we like. It is very easy to say we like one, but the next day we will not remember the name of it.

Waiting to receive your book and we will use that as a basis to start.

Another Lurker out of the depths of darkness.
