Can’t say I ever had one but I can’t say I could find one either. Living with PA wines laws is bogus.

Never heard of it until now! Thanks for the enlightenment on todays show. I’m going to search one out this weekend to give it a whirl.

I saw this video on the internet about how to read a wine label. It was interesting to watch. Take a look at it and I hope you will mention it on one of your next shows.

  • Nope, I’ve never heard of Legrein. But the next time I’m around a Flintstone steak, this will be the one I’m looking for!

Thanks for the never-ending ideas, fun, and PASSION.

Never had a Lagrein. Looked in our local market and there aren’t any. I’ll have to keep digging.

  • Yargh!

QOTD: I’ve had one Lagrein, the Santa Maddalena Lagrein Perl 2004, and I thought it was pretty good — especially with pasta.

    Gary,

Thanks for the shout out – you got this lurker to crawl out! Great show as always. I’m Chilean so I especially enjoy your shows on Chilean wines. It’s hard to get any imported wines here since the market for local wines is so well developed. Just in my local supermarket (and not even a very big one at that) you get… dunno, 300+ different wines easily, all of them local. But the way I figure it would take me 10+ years to try all those wines anyway so I’m not exactly hurting ’cause of the lack of imported wines 😉

I have a question or rather a request. Today I was buying a wine and I stumbled on Carignan Morandé Edición Limitada 2004 (http://www.morande.cl/en/edicion_limitada_car.html) I’m not a wine expert in any shape or form but still it surprised me to see a grape grown locally that I have never heard of. It was the only Carignan on display. I finally didn’t buy it (bought 1865 Single Vineyard Carmenere 2006) as the wine I got is a gift so I wanted something less… unpredictable. Anyway, I was wondering if you could do a show on Carignans and tell us more about them.

Keep it up man – you are definitely changing the wine world, at least for me!

    Thanks,
    Ivan

Short time lurker. I’ve tried many of the wines you’ve previewed and while I didn’t like them all, I liked most. Never had a Lagrein but I’ll order some and give it a whirl. Great show.

QOTD: Haven’t tried Lagrein wines. Can’t see spending 20+ US bones to taste something that has a “poopie poop” smell at this point. Maybe one day. 😉

I have had a few Lagrein. My notes show that Elena Walsh isn’t bad for 15 Bones. Gary don’t give away our secrets. We will have to pay more for these obscure wines. Stick with Pinot and Cabernet and drive the QPRs even lower for the masses.

I haven’t tried Lagrein. I’d like to try it, but you’re sold out of the two I thought looked interesting. You’re getting too big!! 😉

Not officially a lurker since I commented yesterday.

I am ashamed to say I have not had a Lagrein, and since they are not available locally and we are out of spring shipping season it may be October before I do.

Qotd: never heard of this wine type.
Must try, but the price point is more than I’d like to get a whole bottle for! Maybe i’ll get the Kelleri for a wine tasting and make my neighbors taste it also. smile.
Local two wine stores did not have or heard of LeGrein’s. hahaha. I’m so in the south! smile. haha. (north carolina)

thanks for the show. When do I know what blind cabs you did? hey, i’m getting impatient! smile.
    DA
p.s. leaning back, it was again, a good movement that makes you real and listen-able! good move. NOT a lurker, stay the course!

  • Gary Gray

Hey Gary, I’m a bona-fide LURKER going back a year plus. Started getting into wine about three years ago and have been trying as many wines as I can (saving labels whenever possible) and “training” my palette.

Thanks for what you do. I especially love the less familiar varietals you go through. Every chance I get I try something new.

I download the podcasts on iTunes so if I get behind I can spend an evening catching up. Your passion and enthusiasm have inspired me to explore the world of wine and embrace even the “sweaty sock” tastes that I can discover.

    You rock!
